Qigong is a system of knowledge that comprises at least 5,000 years of human evolution and covers all the fields of human interest. It is officially known in China as the science of human potential and development. There are many styles of Qigong available so it is important to understand what makes White Tiger Qigong's style unique.
White Tiger Qigong are Taoist Qigong exercises that harmonize the body, breath, and mind. White Tiger Qigong specializes in extremely dynamic Qigong exercises known well in Wudang Mountain but has very little exposure in the west. The specialties include longevity Qigong, medical Qigong, Qigong breathing, Qigong meditation, and Qigong based martial arts.
In the White Tiger School, there are three types of Qigong that practitioners learn for a balanced program which fit together like pieces of a puzzle: sitting Qigong, standing Qigong, and dynamic Qigong.
In every type of Qigong, the body, mind, and breath are synchronized to become one. Whether moving, standing, or sitting, every exercise requires these three harmonies. When the body, mind, and breath become one, the spirit and the body can become unified.
A signature feature of this Qigong is that it trains the practitioner to become flexible, yet strong and fluid all at the same time. This is practiced in the dynamic Qigong forms. Dynamic forms range from balancing, deep stretching in low stances, to spinal twists that are most often derived from animal forms and dragon movements.
This path is for the practitioner whose aim is optimum health and self-healing. Healers and Chinese medicine doctors practice to enhance their ability to heal themselves and others typically practice medical Qigong. It is based on applied traditional Chinese medicine theory to the existing exercises, which then can be prescribed to a patient.
Martial artists who wish to enhance their martial power practice martial Qigong. The techniques can be applied to just about any martial art to increase the power of strikes, kicks, self-awareness, and energetic movement.
In ancient times, scholars, royalty, and the high class could afford Chinese medicine doctors so there was no need for medical Qigong. They could hire bodyguards so there was no need for martial Qigong. They practiced Qigong to explore the depths and capabilities of the human body. They wanted to know what their maximum human potential was. How far could they extend their Qi? How hot or cold could they make it? How strong and flexible yet fluid could they become?
This path of Qigong is for those who seek enlightenment with Qigong. In Taoist tradition, in order to attain enlightenment, they would first have to strengthen the body and be able to protect themselves so they practiced martial Qigong and Qigong for health. Once they reached a high level of those practices, they believed the body was prepared to attain enlightenment of the spirit.
This method of Qigong is beyond the scope of White Tiger Qigong as it requires the practitioner to live a life of seclusion from society. If a student has reached a proficient level of Qigong in the above-mentioned paths, they will introduce you to some monks in China who can guide you down this path.
Many beginners are learning very advanced techniques of Qigong from books and videos that are known to be dangerous if not practiced correctly such as micro-cosmic orbit and others. You need a teacher who can answer your questions as you move along. What if you have some unusual Qi feelings and you need to discuss with a master what it means?
It takes time and guidance to understand both the energetic and physical properties of Qigong. You are suggested to use the videos as a study guide to what they have learned in person and not learn new Qigong from a video. Also, some people posting videos on Youtube have very little experience or are not qualified to even be teachers.
White Tiger Qigong has a truly unique, fully integrated, and holistic system of training of Baguazhang and Qigong. In ancient times, many traditional Taoist masters were trained in Qigong, martial arts, and healing. Nowadays, it is hard to find a fully integrated system. White Tiger Qigong offers this training to create a truly complete training program. Ultimately, the goal for this system of internal arts is health and longevity as it is a physical, mental, and spiritual elixir.
Most Qigong training systems taught in the west are incomplete systems from that do not train a full spectrum of Qigong. Too often you will see teachers only teaching light standing Qigong methods. A complete Qigong training method will involve fully dynamic movements that provide deep stretching and strengthening Qigong exercises. Practices such as standing Qigong and sitting Qigong are also key elements, but not the end all. They fit together like a puzzle.
“Flow like water, dance like fire,” Tevia tells his students. White Tiger’s principles is that each person contains Yin and Yang, which equates to water and fire. The body must be able to move flowing and fluid like water, but when there is Yang, that needs to be released with fiery explosive Qigong movements.
Tevia Feng has sought to bridge modern science with ancient, traditional training techniques. White Tiger Qigong offers a uniquely designed training system that teaches the practitioner time-tested, traditional training methods and principles with modern scientific principles of human anatomy, modern exercise science, muscle fascia research, and more. White Tiger Qigong bridges the new and the old world like never done before.
First you must heal yourself. This is the first stage. Healing is both on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Some people may already be in good health, but there are always areas that can be improved. Once you heal yourself, the next stage is transformation.
One of the goals in traditional Qigong is transformation. Through this training system, you learn how to transform your emotions. By learning how to generate Qi and move it in the body on, you will transform your very physical existence. Through Qigong meditation, you are able to transform your thoughts, beliefs, and on the highest level, your spirit.
Once you have transformed yourself, you may want to explore your maximum human potential. The system of training allows you to explore your maximum human potential on many levels.
There is a lot of other teacher training out there, but not all are created equal. This teacher training is designed to into depth into two Qigong forms. In this way, the student can explore all aspects of the form and ingrain it into their body on a deeper level.
A lot of other teacher training out there try to cram in too many Qigong exercises, forms, and information leaving the student confused and frustrated. By simplifying the process and going deep with a few forms, this stays in alignment with the traditional way and Tevia Feng's principles of quality over quantity.
