Tog Chöd is a dance with a sword. It is a method of inner transformation. With Tog Chöd, you transform anger and other negative emotions into a clear state of mind. A clear mind is a mind that is fully in the present moment. Tog Chöd is a way to meditate without meditating. In Tibetan, tog means thought and chöd means to cut. When you silence your mind, you discover your true nature. In the space between thoughts, you discover freedom and wisdom. This is the goal of Tog Chöd which is also called the wisdom sword practice.

Connecting to this inner space gives you self-confidence. You find you have the courage to make decisions and you make these decisions from a place of awareness and clarity. This is how you change yourself and change your life, through expanding your awareness. Tog Chöd is deeply rooted in principles of Tibetan Buddhism, specifically tantrayana.

Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche developed Tog Chöd based on the traditional monk dances and movements of the kalachakra. He created Tog Chöd in direct response to the needs of those in the modern world to have a way to clear their heads and be present. This is a mindfulness practice rooted in powerful movement.

The sword symbolizes your innate wisdom. Wielding the sword, you cut through distracting, disempowering thoughts. You stomp on your enemies, your negative emotions, and overcome your laziness and indecisiveness. You dissolve the fears and expectations that prevent you from being in this beautiful present moment. As you step into the present moment, you discover your aliveness, your self-power, your true nature.

With this practice, you will learn how to calm and clear the mind, cease distracting and self-limiting thoughts, and tap into your inner power. The result is courage and confidence and clarity to make good decisions for a good life.
