All of this will be covered once you try the medium term Kung Fu training in China that Tianmeng Academy offers. Tianmeng Academy is an authentic Kung Fu school in China located near Linyi City. Where masters are passionate about teaching and spreading authentic traditional Chinese Kung Fu to students from all around the world.
Tianmeng Academy facilities include a single room for each student. The academy respects everyones privacy and a need for a proper rest besides the training. The bathrooms have male and female separation. Each one consists of western toilets, private shower cabins, and washing machines. There is permanently hot water for convenience of the students.
During the summer there are free fans and air-conditions, during the winter heaters as well as electric blankets. The academy has a capacity of not more than 40 students that keep the academy in a family like atmosphere and it maintains the coziness and the comfort of the students. Make sure you inform Tianmeng Shaolin Kung Fu Academy in advance for your trip to the academy so they can guarantee you an available room (especially during the summer months).
The dining room is open all day and it is a place where you can also relax, play pool, table tennis, basketball and football, or use the TV and DVD player in your free time. The Academy also has a classroom which could be used for quieter activities such as reading and studying. Tianmeng Academy offers two training salons for indoor use as well as outdoor training space.
The training schedule covers the internal and external styles of Kung Fu. In every Kung Fu style there is Yin and Yang and each practitioner has to find a balance in his training. The schedule below is the standard program of training at Tianmeng Academy. It differs slightly from season to season.
The Kung Fu styles included in the schedules are Shaolin, Wing Chun, Meihua Quan, Sanda (Chinese kickboxing), Tai Chi, hard and soft Qi Gong, Bagua Zhang, Xing Yi, Ba Ji, Wudang and Mantis. If discussed in advance with the Masters the training schedule can be tuned according to the individual health conditions of the student.

The main part of the program involves a combination of forms and techniques in styles as Shaolin Quan, Meihua Quan, Wing Chun, Sanda (Chinese kickboxing), Hard Qi Gong, Mantis and others. Forms are not only practiced as form alone, but also being trained together with the actual applications and methods to overcome an opponent in a real situation.
The Sanda curriculum ranges from basic kicks and punches, to pad training, takedowns, and sparring.
Power training and Hard Qi Gong are aimed to improve the body strength, resistance and the overall physical condition of the students. The following is just an example of what is trained at the academy: power training includes weight lifting, legs, back, biceps, chest, triceps, sit-ups, push-ups, etc. Hard Qi Gong training includes body conditioning, break bricks with hand, elbow, knee, head etc. It includes practicing iron body, such as iron hands, iron head, etc.

For thousands of years the Chinese ancestors have discovered a secret of the long and healthy life they passed down the knowledge from Masters to disciples. The fundamental principle of life cultivation is to develop universal harmony by using a balanced approach. The human body should be in perfect balance of intake and outflow, activity and rest, sleep and wakefulness.
This plan is a rough guide to what you will learn while training Shaolin during your program. Other Kung Fu styles such as Wing chun, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Meihua Quan, Bagua, Xingyi, and Baji have a similar plan. The masters will push you to help you reach your full potential, but ultimately it will depend on you, your initial skill, your dedication, effort, and willingness to challenge yourself both physically and mentally.
It is believed at Tianmeng Academy that you must have a strong foundation to support your martial arts training. So the masters will write an individual training plan within your time table where they will consider your skills, strengths, weaknesses, preferences, and goals. Once you have a good foundation of basics and skill, you can have more input into your training plan, for example choosing weapons/forms you would like to learn.
All of the masters of Tianmeng Mountain Academy are dedicated to teach and nurture the potentials of their students. All training given is tailored according to individual and specific needs of a student. The academy aims also to help each student achieve their goals and exceed their expectations.
Short term training syllabus
Students will learn Chinese Kung Fu history and theory.
Shaolin basics - kicks, punches, takedowns, and flexibility.
Shaolin applications, 1 to 7 forms which include 1 to 2 weapon forms that your master will advise you on.
Sanda footwork, punches, kicks, takedowns, and sparring.
Tai Chi Chen style 13 steps, Yang style 24 step, Wudang 9 step.
Soft Qi Gong - (Ba Duan Jin and Wu Qin Xi)
Hard Qi Gong (optional) - through this training you can break 1 or 2 bricks with your hands and break a staff on your back.
During the evening classes you will learn basic Chinese and culture, calligraphy, acupuncture, massage, tea ceremony, Buddhism and Taoism theory.
The academy is famous for the unique training methods with Meihua poles, which have been a secret in the past. Training in between and on the different heights of Meihua Poles, can give students maximum results, achieve Kung Fu training much faster and save a lot of time and money.
Training in the Meihua poles mainly practices the skills of moving quickly, attacking, and defending swiftly, getting close to your opponent and attacking effectively and much more. The essentials of the training are to be always alert in advancing, to avoid the confrontation of factual offense and to make full use of the environment.
It is to train students moving in stable acting routes and angles with a high alertness, making students always are in favorable position in actual fighting. Training on the Meihua poles also aims at reinforcing the flexibility from varied angles of different postures and movements in combat. In the process of training ones eyes, hands, stances and body movements, high level of alertness, and acuteness are achieved.
Students have a variety of classes in the evening, such as cultural history of martial arts, traditional Kung Fu theories, Mandarin, Chinese Culture, Chinese traditional medicine (acupuncture, massage, the Gua Sha treatment), calligraphy, Chinese musical instruments, tea ceremony, Buddhism and Taoism theory.
Shaolin Kung Fu uses power, strength, flexibility, endurance, and co-ordination. Traditional Shaolin methods produce extraordinary skills and abilities, which are both offensive and defensive. Some of these skills include dexterity training, pressure points and nerve manipulation, and many more. Most of these skills take 2 to 6 years to master.
During your stay at Tianmeng you will begin by teaching you Shaolin basics, basic applications and 5 steps (basic form). After you will learn a fist form and a staff form. When you become more advanced you have the option to learn a wide variety of fist and weapon forms, as well as traditional Shaolin forms and animal forms. You will also be taught applications and practice what you have learnt in a combat environment.
By practicing Shaolin it can help you with memory, fitness, flexibility, co-ordination, as well as helping to make your mind peaceful, calm, and gain more self-confidence. You will develop great self-defense techniques, combat ability, and become more aware of your surroundings.
Meihua Quan is an ancient style of Chinese boxing which existed as early as the Shang Dynasty (1600 B.C. - 1046 B.C.). For thousands of years Meihua Quan had been practiced as a secret martial art in tightly knit organizations, maintaining the internal unity. That preservation had brought fine traditions and outstanding skills to the Masters of the past. Currently, Meihua Quan is characterized by a family like atmosphere where practitioners of different level consistently help each other to improve on their levels.
The study of Meihua Quan consists of two parts: the theoretic field and the martial field. The theory is derived from ancient scriptures and documents which have been handed down from generation to generation. Meanwhile, the martial field of Meihua Quan develops the martial skills and teaches the theory of boxing.The martial skills consist of: framework (jia zi), footwork at eight directions (ba fang), duel-training boxing (cheng quan), winning boxing (yang quan), weapons, and Qi Gong.
Jia zi is the routine for basic Kung fu training in Meihua Quan and consists of stake stances and moving steps. These five stances are based on the theory of generation and restriction of the five elements metal, water, wood, fire, and earth respectively along with Yin-Yang theory.
Meanwhile, the three kinds of moving steps are very useful footwork drills to develop the ability to leap, advance and retreat in all directions, to twist ones stance and upper body, to turn to the left or right, etc. In practical use, the three methods enable the practitioner to move like the wind, stand like a nail, rapidly change from a high position to a low attacking position, and retreat quickly after attacking.
Ba Fang is footwork unique to Meihua Quan. There are three types of ba fang- small, middle and big .This kind of footwork enable the practitioner to move in every direction, advance or retreat, attack, or defend.
Cheng Quan (duel - training boxing) is a set of movements for duel training. These movements are assigned to the eight directions of the four doors (Si men) and connected by moving steps and Ba fang steps. In Cheng quan boxing, there are combat training routines similar to real fighting, including techniques such as grabbling, punching, tumbling, sinking, rolling, and wrestling. Through Cheng quan training, the practitioner can learn to feel the strength of the opponent transform the strength of the opponent and estimate the depth of the strength of the opponent. In this way, practitioner can gain a high sense of intuition.
Ying Quan (winning boxing) is an actual spar. At this level, the two practitioners do not follow set handwork or footwork but use rapid movements, interlocking footwork, and skillful handwork. In combat, defending is attacking, attacking is defending and victory to failure is a matter of seconds.
Meihua Quan includes not only the 18 kinds of traditional weapons and their complete routines, but also the practice of rare weapons. Weapons can be performed in duel by two practitioners according to the Four door (Si men) and the eight directions. Their movements are unusual and are uniquely tied together with close knit footwork.
Besides the practice of martial arts and weapons, Meihua Quan also includes special Qigong training methods known as Neidan (internal elixir) and Waidan (external elixir). Meihua Quan Qigong contains methods about nourishing and feeding on Qi, such as Small Circuit qigong, Eight section brocades, Twelve section brocade, Changing tendon Method. It also contains many methods on how to concentrate the attention, conduct Qi, regulate breathing, and clearing the mind of random thoughts. All are excellent methods to train the calmness, Qi, and the spirit.
Stake Kung Fu (Zhuang gong)
In ancient times, Meihua Quan was practiced on the top of stakes that were driven into the ground. The stakes are divided into three levels corresponding to the practitioners level: low, middle, high.
The benefits of practicing over the stakes are numberless: balance of the body, deep sinking into the stances, increasing the strength and Qi of the whole body, natural treating of pressure points on the feet, detox, etc.
State of wholism
In the practice of Meihua Quan, when you reach the state of wholism, you have achieved success. The real art is invisible. If one arrives at the state of wholism, it means one has captured the real art. This is the most advance stage.
Today Tianmeng wants to reveal the mysteries of Meihua Quan to the world, which could only develop and progress from it. From ancient times till now all practitioners of Meihua Quan are part of One Family with high respect amongst each other, deep traditions, and endless inspiration.
Formula of wholism: Wholism is the successful state of practice, it will help you built a real form. The real form contains real quintessence and spirit and real quintessence conceals smoothly flowing Qi. To make each movement coordinated with the real form, you must make the real form free with each movement. When they are well coordinated, each part of your body will become completely flexible.
Wing Chun is a Kung Fu style that focuses on close range combat, protecting and attacking the 'centreline'. It involves kicks, sweeps, strikes, punches, trapping, and control techniques. It is aimed at both defending and attacking at the same time. Control of oneself to ultimately control ones opponent is emphasized.
Wu Mei Shi Tai, the creator of Wing Chun was originally a master of Kung Fu and created this style to take advantage of other Shaolin styles. Wing Chun was named after her first student Yan Yong Chun and is now practiced by many people around the world. One of the most famous was Bruce Lee.
Tai Chi is an internal martial art which incorporates Yin and Yang, two equal elements that complement each other and the five element theory. The movements are soft, gentle, and relaxed while still managing to remain strong and steady. Tai Chi forms have many defensive applications that use soft movements to defeat hard movements. The study of Tai chi primarily involves three aspects: health, meditation, and martial arts.
Tai Chi's health training concentrates on relieving the physical stress on the body and mind. It can help lower blood pressure and improve / cure many chronic illnesses. Tai Chi's meditation training concentrates on teaching you to have a clear and peaceful mind while still being aware of your surroundings this can help with reducing stress and maintaining homeostasis.
Tai Chi's martial art training concentrates on internal power and redirecting the opposing force for self-defense. The applications are challenging and take a lot of time and practice to be able to use them correctly. At Tianmeng, the three most popular styles of Tai Chi; Yang, Chen, and Wu are taught. During your stay, you will begin with learning Tai Chi basics and a short Tai Chi fist form.
When you have become proficient in these movements you will move onto more complex fist forms and later learn other sword and weapon forms. While you are practicing Tai Chi you should try to keep a clear mind, your breathing natural from your belly, and keep your movements steady and continual in a fluid motion. Remember to stay relaxed and make sure that your upper body and lower body are always working together.
Sanda, Chinese kickboxing, is a fast paced combat system which trains and develops self-defense and fighting skills. It is made up of four major areas, kicking, punching, grappling, and take downs. It is not normally considered a style itself rather as one of the two components of Chinese martial arts training and is often taught alongside traditional Chinese styles.
Originally created for the training of Chinese soldiers in hand to hand combat. Over the years, Sanda has been adapted for modern soldiers and has become the major combat sport in China. Sanda's techniques, theory, and training methods are derived from traditional martial art styles.
During your stay at Tianmeng, beginners will be taught punching, kicking, drills, and fighting combinations. After you have mastered these you will be taught more advanced techniques such as takedowns and sparring. Throughout, you will be taught to have more control over your body and mind.
Qi Gong translates to 'Life energy'. Qi Gong is split into two parts; internal also known as soft Qi Gong and external also known as hard Qi Gong, both involve three parts, breathing, posture (moving or still), and mental focus. When external and internal Qi Gong are used together, they can assist masters achieve unbelievable things like balancing on sharp ends of spears or breaking marble with only a finger.
Internal or soft Qi Gong is practiced to improve your Qi, which is believed to make you healthier and energize your body and mind. Some of the health benefits these forms provide are improving your blood circulation, organ cleansing, bone marrow cleansing, and generally helping to prevent sickness and promote life longevity.
External or hard Qi Gong is practiced to physically strengthen the body and help condition the bones, and this helps in preparing your body for fights and withstanding force. You can condition every part of your body, hands, arms, head, legs, fingertips, etc.
Some exercises used to achieve this are headstands, handstands on your fingertips, slapping your skin, which can also help with circulation and being hit or kicked all over your body among many more techniques. It is also believed that this routine helps you to be more immune to sickness as through conditioning you hit many acupuncture points.
Bagua Zhang is a combination of attack and defensive moves while incorporating Neigong (internal Kung Fu). It uses palms instead of fists for attack. The main characteristics are strikes, joint locking, throws, and distinctly evasive circular footwork. The evasive circular footwork in Bagua is one of its most distinctive characteristics and a very important aspect; it is used to confuse an opponent and is effective in helping fight several attackers.
The custom of practicing Bagua Zhang is valuing strong spirit, courage, and personal loyalty. Weapons used in Bagua Zhang are mostly very distinctive being easily concealed, such as the crescent shaped deer horn knives and scholar pens or extremely large, such as the Bagua sword and Bagua broadsword.
Baji is a powerful yet simple martial art that attacks from angles the opponent cannot see. Traditional Baji is about hitting your opponent, where you are most afraid of being hit. Their stances are narrow while remaining low, a factor which allows them to pace, change their footing, and let out bursts of power.
Closing in, striking, shoving, checking, bashing, jolting, charging, striking, and grappling are all fundamentals of Baji. Baji helps improve reflexes, stamina, balance, body strength, awareness of your surroundings, and much more. Tianmeng are proud to offer Baji as one of the disciplines at the academy.
Xing yi is one of the three famous Nei Jia Quan (internal Kung Fu) in China. It emphasizes internal and external integration; it begins with intent and ends with form. It requires unobstructed flow of blood and Qi and adherence to forms and principles.
The body should always be in a relaxed state but still ready to spring into action, contracting the body when releasing power. Striking, power, and speed should be focused in unison to produce penetrative power. The main stances and training methods of Xing Yi are San Ti Shi (three body alignment), coordinating unity. The elbows must follow the knees, the hands the feet and the shoulders the hips.
Wudang Kung Fu follows Taoist teachings, which believe in the preservation of life and living harmoniously with nature. During your stay at Tianmeng, beginners will be taught the basics of Wudang. Afterwards, you will learn many fist forms and when you are more experienced you can move on to weapon forms.
The stances and steps are close to the floor, using the steps to trace the outline of a snake. It is focusing on using your mind clear to stay balanced and centered, and taking or redirecting the opponents power to use against them.
Master Wang comes from a traditional Kung Fu family. He has over than 20 years of teaching experience with students of different levels and nationalities. He is very good at Shaolin, Tai Chi, Healing Chi Gong (Qi Gong), He has got a very deep understanding of traditional Kung Fu theories and Meihua Poles training.
Master Tong Master Tong is from a Shaolin Kung Fu family and started to practice Shaolin Kung Fu with his father when he was 6. At the age of 12 years old, he went to Shaolin Temple to do the deep Shaolin Kung Fu study, His mastery in Shaolin forms, and other weapons such as staff, sword, spear etc. He is also a very good teacher in Sanda, Meihua Quan and Wing Chun.
Master Gu Master Gu comes from a traditional Kung Fu family, with his excellence in teaching, has acquired confidential Kung Fu especially in Soft Qi Gong (Chi Kung), Hard Qi Gong (Iron body), and, Tai Ji (Tai Chi) and Grappling.
Tianmeng Academy is located at the foot of the beautiful Tianmeng Mountains, northwest of Linyi in Shandong Province of China. The academy is surrounded by two national parks, the Tianmeng Mountain and Zhidongshi Park, where the students train regularly. The training location provides a peaceful and pleasant environment, which is an ideal environment for aspiring traditional Kung Fu students in China.
Full board service: 3 hot meals per day, seven days a week. Vegetarians, vegans, and muslim (request for halal food) will be catered for. On special occasions such as festivals and birthdays, the masters and students will eat together.
The cook is very flexible and he has lots of years of experience in cooking. The meals are carefully prepared, taking into consideration the need for energy and health maintenance while training in Kung Fu. The academy buys products locally and ensures that they are free of additives, enhancers, E-numbers, and for fruits and vegetables free of pesticides.
The academy prepares special meals for vegetarians and vegans. For students from Muslim countries, the academy gives special consideration as it is known how important it is for them to eat Halal. The academys cook is well trained to prepare delicious and nutritious meals.
During the weekends, students are off from training. With permissions from their masters, students are allowed to go out of academy to go on a sightseeing adventure. Students can also ask for some time off, if they would like to travel on other nearby towns and attractions. Students may also go on a trip to the famous attractions during the holidays. There are four holidays a year in China: Chinese New Year, Moon festival, Academy anniversary, and Christmas day.
During holidays or weekends students may go on a trip to Linyi City, Local Karst Cave (No.1 Drifting Cave of China which is 40 kilometers away from the Academy), the UNESCO World Heritage City of Qufu (100 kilometers), Mengshan National Park (20 kilometers), Mount Tai (120 kilometers), and Linyi City (80 kilometers). They have the opportunity to visit Shaolin Temple in Henan Province with their masters and be introduced to the Venerable Shi Yong Xin Abbot, or have the opportunity to be introduced to the great master of Plum Blossom fist Han Baiguang.
Beijing (Peking) City: Beijing, which is the capital of China, is one of the worlds truly imposing cities that has a 3,000-year history. It is also the location of some of the famous attractions i.e. Great Wall of China, Palace Museum (Forbidden City), Tianan Men Square, Temple of Heaven, Thirteen Ming Tombs, Summer Palace, Hutong Tour, and Lama Temple.
Linyi City: Linyi City is a famous city that has the third largest wholesale and retail market in China. It has a variety of commodities with cheap prices. It is also known for its modern and comfortable Linyi Airport that has many lines open connecting the city with the large and medium sized cities of China.
Qufu City: Qufu is located in the southwest of Shandong province and is known for being the hometown of Confucius. It is also known for having the UNESCO world heritage sites, Confucius (Kong) Family Mansion, Temple of Confucius, and Cemetery of Confucius.
Shanghai City: One of the famous cities also located next to Tashan is known for the following attractions and highlights that most students visit and try during their free time: City God Temple, Nanjing Road, Maglev Train, Jin Mao Tower, Hairy Crabs, and Rowing Boat - Water Village Tours.
Tianmeng Mountain National Park: Located in Tianmeng Mountain area, this park covers an area of 3338 hectares. It has one of the most beautiful scenery in town. Tianmeng Mountain National park is known for having many species of plants, special larches and black pines imported from Japan, which has been preserved for ages. The park is also known for the variety of animals living in the park.
Xian City: Xian City is known for the Terra Cotta Warriors and the Emperor Qin Shihuangs Mausoleum attractions.
Zhidongshi Park: Located about 1 kilometers from the school, Zhidongshi Park is one of the famous places that students visit for fun and relaxation.
