The camp is pure Muaythai Training Academy. However, they do not stick to the Thai old school style. The team believes training should be smart, scientific, logical and effective. You can learn both traditional and the latest training methods here. Also, the program focuses more on basic techniques, such as footwork, posture, speed, and accuracy rather than just power. All of the techniques that you learn here are useful for a REAL fight.

The gym

This is the largest Muay Thai Gym in Northern Thailand with a total of 9000 sqft training areas. Clean floor with 50mm thick Dollamur mat support your footwork and protect you from injury.

Total of 22 various types of Fairtex heavy bags are set in the training area. The gym has many unique bag training in the program menu. You can enjoy them for sure.

There are four sets of 8 meters x 8 meters of international size rings in the training space. You will feel like a world-class real fighter on it. The experience is priceless.

Program

This training is good for those who

What the daily training looks like

The gym splits participants into four different level categories at each class. The length of training is 90 minutes (150 minutes for professional). The training includes:

Warm up

There are various kinds of warm up, depending on the level and size of the class as well as weather conditions, etc. You warm up by skipping rope or tire bounce followed by stretching, shadow boxing, and fun footwork drills.

Footwork and shadow boxing

Most gyms pay less attention to shadow boxing. The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy team believes Shadow boxing is one of the most important training for all-level students. You spend 3-4 rounds for checking your posture, body balance, footwork, speed, and accuracy. Students should aim for fluid movement with light steps as much as possible.

Padwork

100% technique focus pad work is also one of The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy's signature training. The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy members sometimes observe many gyms offer three minutes or only a few rounds of pad work, and not much focus on technique but just hold the pads.

They let students kicks and punches as they wish and make them tired and then leave students alone in front of heavy bags. The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy team doesn't agree with that style of training. Muaythai training is NOT just kicking pad holder.

Training purpose should not be to make you tired, but trainer should spend enough time with you in order to specify and fix your bad habits, to help to build your foundation, and to work out the drill together.​

Normally The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy offers 4-minute of 6-8 rounds pad work at least, and they may do more as requested or trainer believes if it's necessary for you. Yes, you will be feeling exhausted after each class, but it's super worthy.

Heavy bag work

The heavy bag becomes a tool for developing EFFICIENT POWER, not absolute power. You need power punches and kicking in order to strengthen your fight muscle but make sure to control energy. Pay attention, stay balanced, and work that bag. The camp skilled trainers will direct you on how to train efficient bag works.

Drill

The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy team believes drills is another important part of Muay Thai training and they suggest students should spend more time on this. They categorize drills into three purposes, striking, defense, and counter-attacking. You can train various kinds of drills at each session and never get bored.

Sparring

You have an optional sparing session for who would like to test and improve skills to the next level. The sparring allows students to practice and utilize their skills against the opponent.

Usually sparring should be done at 50-70% speed and 25-30% power, and students must wear a shin pad, mouthpiece, and head guard in order to prevent injury. The gloves should be 20 oz. For safety reasons, The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy does not allow students to spar each other. Students must spar with skilled trainers.

Cardio

The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy also focuses on building your fitness base by using Muay Thai movement such as kicking, kneeing, punching, etc. Intensity will vary depending on your physical strength and skill level. For example, an advanced / professional class requires more than 500 kicks and knees, right and left respectively.

Clinching

The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy does not want to spend much time on clinching. Given that clinching is only limited to Muaythai fight and it's useless mostly for other standing fights such as K1 or kickboxing.

The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy team wants their students to spend more useful and valuable time in their training session, therefore they focus more on Thai kicking and other Muay Thai techniques rather than spending 30-40 minutes for clinching. Of course, they can do clinching as requested.

Stretch / cool down

After every intense session, it is important to stretch well in order to recover quickly and be ready for the next session. It improves your flexibility and thus prevents injury. Every cooldown will be followed by some meditation. The camp trainer will guide you properly.

Location

The gym is located in Hang Dong, one of the most beautiful and richest areas in Chiangmai Province, just 15 minutes from the international airport as well as Nimmanhenmin street.

The gym opens every day, 365 days. For those who can come and train only on a weekend or holiday, no problem. The staff members are always with you.

Food

Food is not included in the package. There are many nice and cheap restaurants nearby, most of them are within walking distance. You can ask the staff members for restaurant recommendations.

Also, it is very easy to call Grab a taxi to go anywhere and try different sorts of food in Chiangmai city. Because Chiangmai is a small city, most of the restaurants are located within 5-15 minutes from the gym.

Ask The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy staff about the Diet Program which includes a special diet menu.

Things to do (optional)

  • Sports massage for professional athletes with the best therapist in 2019. Only 2 hours at 1,000 THB (using aroma oil as requested)
  • Private yoga session 1 hour at 1,500 THB during 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., pre-booking required

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX). Airport transfer is not included in the price. From the airport, you can take Grab taxi or public taxi. The gym is 15-20 minutes away from the airport.

You will need to download the Grab taxi app through Google Play or Apple Store, then type "The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy" as the destination. Simply ask the taxi driver to take you to The Camp Muaythai Resort and Academy in Hang Dong, near Royal Rajapruek Park. Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
