Informative Classes

Regularly scheduled classes on nutrition, health, and fitness are an important part of your stay at this fitness and health spa. The fitness team will advise you on an exercise regimen that will continue to benefit you long after your stay. The Taking the Program Home lecture and its handouts focus on a fitness and nutrition plan that can be easily implemented when you go home. There will be time to ask questions, and you will receive helpful information about the exercises that you performed while at the spa.

Tennessee Fitness Spa wants you to continue with healthy eating and fitness habits when you return home. They hope that what you learned during your stay will allow you to create positive changes that will last a lifetime. Additional workshops are available each week, so be sure to check your schedule during your stay!

Exercise

Our live-in fitness and exercise program consists of walking, aerobics, indoor cycling, aqua aerobics, interval classes, weight training, Pilates, yoga, body toning, stretching, plus optional games such as racquetball, pickleball, and Wallyball. You will receive an InBody report during your stay at the fitness resort. You can participate in any exercise class on the campus, as all classes have modifications based on your personal level of fitness. The regimen at this fitness spa will help increase your balance, flexibility, aerobic endurance, and strength in a low-impact, healthy, and safe manner.

Hiking

The grounds are networked with a number of popular walking routes, allowing you to venture out into nature for fun, healthy morning walks to get your heart pumping.

Strength Training

Inside the 2,600-square-foot weight room, you’ll find Pacific Fitness equipment, plus treadmills, rowers, cycles, and more.

Water Aerobics

With a heated, indoor swimming pool that measures 30 by 60 feet, you can kick back, relax, and take a dip at any time.

Meditation and Yoga

With an on-staff guide to lead you through guided meditation and yoga, you can always find ways to calm your mind and body.

Raquetball and Wallyball

At the indoor racquetball court, players of all skill levels - amateurs to experts - can engage in healthy, exciting competition.

Cardio

The 2,400-square-foot aerobics gym is outfitted with kettlebells, free weights, yoga mats, Bosu balls, Pilates balls, and more.

InBody Assessment

The InBody, a state-of-the-art piece of equipment used for body composition analysis, assesses your overall fitness and breaks down your body composition so you know exactly how much fat, muscle, water, and lean mass your body is carrying. The assessment is not mandatory, but it is recommended that you take advantage of this complimentary service so that you can follow your progress throughout the year.

InBody recommends that you get assessments no more often than every 4 to 6 weeks. However, if you feel that you need to do it again, then a complementary test is available once a week. These InBody assessments will help you see the results of your hard work and assist you in adjusting your nutrition and fitness schedule to align with your fitness goals. You are given a copy of these assessments to take home with you and they make a wonderful tool to share with your personal trainer and your physician.

Fitness Facilities

The spa’s fitness facilities are comprised of a fully equipped gym, a heated swimming pool, a fitness classroom, a cycling room, a racquetball court with a viewing area, a sauna, a covered hot tub, and a sun deck. All the facilities are open 24 hours a day.

The workout gym is a 5,000-square-foot facility featuring a 2,400-square-foot aerobics classroom, an 850-square-foot cardiovascular area, and a 1,750-square-foot weight room area. The cardiovascular area is equipped with treadmills, elliptical machines, rowing machines, and recumbent bikes. The 1,750-square-foot weight area contains Pacific Fitness and Pro Maxima strength training equipment, as well as free weights.

The enclosed pool, used for aquatic classes, lap swimming, and recreational swimming, is 60 feet long by 30 feet wide. Our pool slopes from three to five feet in depth, and is maintained at 82 to 85 degrees. Nearby, the hot tub accommodates four people at a time and is heated to a temperature of 104 degrees. A deck for sunbathing surrounds the indoor pool area.

You are encouraged to try new classes while there at the fitness spa. There are a variety of classes, so feel free to experiment and find the right ones for you. If a class is not right for you, then you can always leave the class and try the next one. There is no intimidation and no peer pressure. Tennessee Fitness Spa offers a variety of options, hoping you will find classes that you will want to continue when you take the program home.

Location

Tennessee Fitness Spa is located 95 miles southwest of Nashville, Tennessee, just eight miles outside Waynesboro, Tennessee at a beautiful Natural Bridge. This historic site is the only known double-span natural bridge formation in the world. It is a purely natural formation that was formed over millions of years by a freshwater spring located nearby.

Tribes, including the Yuchi Indians from Mexico, the Choctaw, Chickasaw, Muskogean, and Creeks walked the trails around the Natural Bridge and used this site over several different periods of history. The Natural Bridge is bordered by a forty-eight creek, a crystal-clear, cool water stream with many species of fish, which can often be seen from the banks. Another popular creation of nature, located behind the fitness resort’s office, is the “Ice Cave.” The temperature in the cave is a cool 58 degrees all year round, with a stream flowing out of the cave and into a duck pond.
