During this holiday, you will be accommodated at Tai Chi Costa Rica House. It is located just one-minute walk away from beaches, supermarkets, and restaurants. The house offers ocean, mountain, and awe-inspiring sunset views daily. You will wake up to the sounds of pounding surf and a symphony of birds and monkeys.

Tai Chi Costa Rica House accommodates four guests in two bedrooms with one shared bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a double bed and a sofa bed and the other bedroom has two single beds. You can choose between single or double occupancy, based on what suits you and your budget.


The typical one week Tai Chi Vacation includes one tai chi class each morning. Each class is 60 minutes and is held on a private beach just a one-minute walk from Tai Chi Costa Rica House.

Typical Tai Chi class includes:

  • Standing meditation (Qigong), breathing, and loosening up exercises
  • Basic Tai Chi postures and techniques
  • Silk reeling, Tai Chi's continually spiraling whole body movements
  • Solo form training (learn the original Chen family Tai Chi solo routines with an emphasis on correct posture and movement and explanations of self-defense applications for each posture)
  • Push hands, a partner training exercise for testing and developing skills for self-defense
  • Tai Chi spinal stretch, a simple standing exercise to release tension and reverse and prevent back pain
  • Standing and sitting meditation

This is our standard one week package. When you like to add more tai chi classes, we can schedule up to 4 hours daily by appointment.


Dr. Bob Bacher
Dr. Bob Bacher practices and teaches Tai Chi daily with the same enthusiasm and joy as he did the day he started in 1969. He travels worldwide offering workshops and retreats, sharing Tai Chi’s original principles and practice methods as he learned from 19th generation lineage Grandmaster Wang Xi’an. Dr. Bacher’s goals are simple: to always strive to achieve the highest level of skill in Tai Chi, to be the absolute best teacher that he can be, and to share the beauty and health-giving properties of Tai Chi with as many people as he can.


The venue of this holiday will be located in beautiful Pavones, Costa Rica. Pavones is situated in the southern Pacific region of Costa Rica. Pavones combines rainforest, jungle, green mountains, uncrowded beaches, magnificent sunsets, and the turquoise warm waters of the ocean.

You will see scarlet macaws, toucans, dolphins, whales, giant sea turtles, monkeys, sloths, brilliant butterflies, and much more on a daily basis. Pavones is the perfect setting to completely relax and enjoy nature while you fully immerse your body, mind, and spirit in the practice of Tai Chi.

Typical Costa Rican meals include rice and beans, salad, fried plantains, and your choice of vegetarian or nonvegetarian dishes. There are several supermarkets in Pavones and simple outdoor style restaurants where you can order anything from tropical fruit smoothies to full meals. Prices are very reasonable.
