Join an authentic warrior monk Kung Fu training with Shaolin Temple Yunnan! The Temple offers an exceptional level of education and support to their students. The teaching plan can be adjusted to your personal goals, style, focus, and body conditions. In general, you will have around seven hours of training per day. During the training, you can also learn Chinese Culture, Medicine and Chinese Mandarin among others!
At Shaolin Temple Yunnan, a full monk experience in living is offered. You will share monk rooms (sharing to maximum of 10 people in a big room) and single monk rooms. They are simple and suited for an authentic experience while you learn Kung Fu. The washing facilities are shared no matter the accommodation. In all type of the accommodation, you will be provided with the following: bedding, linen and towel. The use of automatic washing machines on site is free of charge. The venue does not offer washing powder. Please make sure you book long in advance your accommodation. The Temple’s rooms are limited and they book very fast.
Welcome to China Shaolin Temple Kung Fu and Traditional Training in Shaolin Temple, Yunnnan Province. Shi Yanjun is the Head Coach of the Kung Fu team of the Shaolin Temple Yunnan. The Temple is the only center for foreign students authorized by the temple and the Venerable Abbot Shi Yanbei. Shifu Shi Yanjun is 34th Generation Shaolin Warrior Monk (Direct Disciple of the Venerable Abbot Shi Yong Xin) and 17th Generation Disciple of Meihua Quan (Direct Disciple of the Grandmaster Han Bai Guang). He is graded 8 Duanwei by the Shaolin Wushu Experts Association and 6 Duanwei by the Chinese Wushu Association. He is the President of International Meihua Quan Federation, Vice-President of Chinese Meihua Quan Association and Xingtai University Professor. Recently he recevied the distinction of Executive Director for Mei Boxing Association under the China Culture Administration Association (CCAA).
The other masters of the Temple are Shifu Shi Yanpeng (Wing Chun, Sanda and Kung Fu Movie), Shifu Hengxue (Shaolin and Taiji), Shifu Hengzhan (Shaolin, Sanda and Mantis). The style of teaching and living inside the Temple is very different from any other location because here students will learn the oldest traditions of the Chinese masters' teachings and follow full time the life of the monks. The Temple has the "five number one" and they will be explained on arrival. At Shaolin Temple, you arrive to immerse in the real authentic culture and there is no limit to it. You will live in an environment where the monks of the Shaolin Temple live. We eat together with the monks and all food is organic. The Temple will do their best to help you achieve your own goals and Kung Fu dreams. They offer not only Kung Fu classes for short and medium term, but with them you can further specialize in Kung Fu education following their teacher training program and Bachelor degree in Kung Fu.
The Doctor monks offer personalized medical and holistic treatments; however, please note that these programs are not free of charge or included in the regular training program. At Xingtai University, you can learn Chinese Traditional Medicine or Chinese Mandarin and get certified. Shaolin Temple constantly improves the quality of the programs. Styles offered by the Temple are Shaolin Kung Fu, Shaolin boxing (Sanda), Wing Chun, Taiji Quan, Meditation, Qigong (hard and soft - Ba Duan Jin, Yi Jin Jing), Meihua Quan, Qin Na, Ba Gua Zhang and Mantis. Theory classes offered are Chinese Culture (Calligraphy, Tea Ceremony, Chinese numerology, Feng Shui, Chess and games), Chinese Traditional Medicine (Acupuncture, Massage, Cupping, Scraping, Herbal medicine and Nutrition), Chinese cooking and Buddhism philosophy.
The training takes place inside the Shaolin Temple. It is a Buddhist Temple served by monks and nuns. Students can take part in the Buddhist Ceremony every day in the morning at 5:30 a.m. and evening at 7:00 p.m. This class is optional but is part of Buddhist Education. Formal training starts at 8.30 a.m. in the Temple and ends at 9 p.m.. We offer 7+hours of training with Shaolin monks. The timetable is very balanced and the teaching style follows the traditional way. There will be 3 sessions of training guided by the Shaolin masters.
Each student's goals are very important to the Temple and the training timetable will be adjusted accordingly. Kung Fu is part of life and nature, so the training is adjusted accordingly to follow the nature cycles. When a student arrives here and has no previous experience in Kung Fu, he/she is advised to follow for one week the timetable and decide what he/she likes best, so for the following weeks the student can focus only on the personal goals. For advanced students, the Temple tailors the timetable to follow their very specific goals. Each class (no matter the style) will consist of learning forms (set of exercises), stances, applications, techniques and pair work (Duilian). The program does not limit a student appetite for learning.
With the Shaolin Temple Yunnan, in one month you can learn up to five forms. They will not restrict you if you are a beginner and wish to learn a particular form. One month is not enough for learning well, but you can go home after and continue your practice. You will become very good and master the forms you learn with the masters. Each class has about six to seven students. The classes will be specifically done to fit your own body quality and fitness. Students who wish to train during the weekends are free to do so. You can use the Temple's equipment free of charge. If you think you wish to learn more, you can book extra classes with the masters. The types of exercises at the Temple include circuit training, abdominal exercises, strength exercises (push-ups, squats, jumping, pull-ups, high knee run, dumbbells, barbell, press, and so on.), flexibility exercises, self-defense techniques, Hard Qigong (iron palm, iron body), Sanda (Shaolin boxing and fighting in the ring) and many more. During the weekends, students have free time to rest or train more. The Temple also offers classes for families and children. This training type is also suitable for weight loss and improving the overall health condition.
Shifu Shi Yajun is the Head Coach of Kung Fu Department of Shaolin Temple Yunnan and disciple of The Venerable Abbot of Songshan Shaolin Temple, Grandmaster She Yongxin. He is 34th Generation Shaolin Warrior Monk and 17th Generation Disciple of Meihua Quan. Shifu Yanjun is the Executive President of International Meihua Quan Federation, Vice-president of China Meihua Quan Association and Executive Director of Mei Boxing Association. Shifu Shi Yanpeng is 34th Generation Shaolin Warrior Monk. He studied in Shaolin Temple from the age of nine until 17 and received the sixth Duanwei grading from Shaolin Wushu Association China. He teaches Kung Fu movie and Wing Chun classes and has been working in the movie industry for more than 10 years under the famous directors Sammo Hung and Yuen Woo-Ping. Shifu Yan Peng worked for movies such as Fearless (Jet Li), Dragon Tiger Gate (Donnie Yen), Fist of Fury (Jet Li), The Forbidden Kingdom (Jackie Chan and Jet Li), and more.
Shifu Shi Hengwu is the disciple of Venerable Abbot of Shaolin Temple Yunnan, Grandmaster She Yanbei. She is specialized in Buddhist studies, Buddhist Meditation and Shaolin Qigong, being 35th Generation Buddhist Monk.
Shifu Shi Hengzhen is the disciple of Venerable Abbot of Shaolin Temple Yunnan, Grandmaster Shi Yanbei. He is 35th Generation Buddhist Monk and specialized in Buddhist studies, Buddhist Meditation and Buddhist Scriptures.
Shi Yanbo (Dr. Andreea McCurry) is the disciple of Venerable Abbot of Songshan Shaolin Temple, Grandmaster Shi Yongxin. She has been training in China under Shifu Shi Yanjun for more than 7 years. Shi Yanbo is 34th Generation Shaolin Warrior Monk and 17th Generation Meihua Quan. Her role in Shaolin Temple is International Cultural Exchange Ambassador. You will dine with the monks therefore meat is not offered. The meals monks eat are the most healthy and they provide the best balanced meals for Kung Fu training. The food provided follows the principles of Yin and Yang. Monks do not cook using chemicals, enhancers or MSG (mono-sodium glutamate).They have 100% vegetarian diet. However, when you eat with the monks you must follow their habits of eating. This means their meals are at set times: 7 AM, 12 PM, and 6 PM. and they do not talk during meal time and are very grateful for their bowl of food.
