Program description

Santai Gym has Muay Thai training 2 times a day (morning and afternoon), 6 days a week from Monday to Saturday, with Sunday as a rest day. It focuses on teaching traditional Muay Thai fighting techniques, or as the trainers call it: Stadium Muay Thai. Santai Gym accepts all levels of students and fighters to learn Muay Thai there.

Every student and fighter has their own weaknesses and strengths, which is why at Santai Gym the trainers will adjust your training in order to help you with your personal needs and goals. Training in Muay Thai consists of technical training, endurance training, and strength training. The gym focuses on those main principals, with a style!

Beginner and intermediate level training

Beginners and intermediate level students improve very quickly at Santai Gym. The staff of trainers are world class, and teach with patience, details, and repetition. As a beginner, you do not have to worry about falling behind in training due to your condition or lack of ability. Santai Gym strives for a training system that helps you improve individually, yet pushes you collectively together as a team with the rest of the students in efforts to obtain one goal, and that is for all of the students to get better at Muay Thai.

Experienced level training

For the more experienced students, Santai Gym will help you get to the next level as well. Santai Gym is always looking for students who want to get into the ring and fight to become better fighters, as this is what the art and the sport of Muay Thai is all about. Whether you are a current student training at Santai Gym or a prospective student looking to join the gym, if you have the aspiration of fighting in Thailand, against Thai fighters, in Thai stadiums, and at Thai festival events, then you have come to the right place.

Stadium Muay Thai

Stadium Muay Thai is a term that the trainers use to describe the style of Muay Thai that is taught. It is straight forward. Santai Gym trains to fight in the stadium with clean, balanced, and beautiful Muay Thai. This style comes from the roots and years of experience of its trainers.

Although Santai Gym teaches the specific style of traditional Muay Thai at Santai Gym, the trainers never fail to come up with creative ways to teach it, and make sure that it stays in their students and fighters lives as a habit.

They will use a stick with a glove attached to the end of it and poke you while you hit the bag, or tie your hands to your forehead while you kick to make sure your hands are up, or make marks on the mat with chalk for foot work technique for you to follow, and more!

They have endless Muay Thai knowledge and always come up with innovative way to teach it. They are motivated to coach their students and fighters and make good Muay Thai technique permanent for them.

It is also the most expensive way to get to Chiang Mai, with flights costing up to 2500 THB (85 USD). Also, flights only start at 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., so if you arrive at BKK airport overnight, you will have to wait at the airport until boarding. Arrival by bus from Mo Chit bus station in Bangkok to Chiang Mai

The bus station that you will need to go to is called Mo Chit. The easiest way to get to Mo Chit bus station from BKK Airport is by taxi. Make sure to only get a taxi with a meter, because non-meter taxis will over charge you for the ride. The Bangkok to Chiang Mai bus usually departs starting at 8.30 a.m., so if you arrive overnight, you will have to stay at the airport until the appropriate time comes to go to the bus station. Once you get to Mo Chit bus station, look for a Chiang Mai booth, which will have a sign written in English.

Purchase a ticket from there and make your way to Chiang Mai. The bus ride is 10 hour long, and it is a great way to see Thailand on the way from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Also, there are different classes of buses from regular to VIP which is more spacious and comfortable, though the regular buses are good enough for most travelers and are also the cheapest. When your bus ride from Bangkok ends, you will arrive at the Arcade Chiang Mai Bus Station, which is only 12 kilometers away from Sanatai Muay Thai Gym.

Arrival by train from Hualampong railway station in Bangkok to Chiang Mai

Traveling by train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is favored by travelers because they can sleep on the overnight sleeper train. However, the train is more expensive and takes longer to reach Chiang Mai than the bus.

The train also passes through some amazing mountain ranges and sights such as Doi Kuntan National Park, and is also great for seeing some of Thailand on land rout. The train ride from Bangkok to Chiang Mai takes about 12 to 14 hours to complete.

There are food and drinks sold on the train, as well as a washroom. Once the trip is complete, you will be arriving at the Chiang Mai Railway Station, which is about 12 km from Santai Muay Thai Gym.

Arrival in Chiang Mai

Once you arrive in Chiang Mai at the bus station, train station, or airport, it is very simple and easy to get to Santai Muay Thai Gym. The gyms staff can either pick you up in the Santai Gym Truck, or you may come by tuk-tuk or taxi.

Pick up by the gym truck will cost 500 THB (15 USD) to cover gas cost, and is the easiest way for you to come make it to the gym. Pick up by Gym Truck is available from 6 am to 10 pm. If you arrive later, it is recommended that you rent a hostel room and Santai Gym will pick you up at noon the following day.

Coming by tuk-tuk or taxi will cost between 500 to 800 THB (6-12 USD) depending on the price you agree on with the driver. You will have to help guide the driver with the following directions: San Kamphaeng (the town which Santai Muay Thai Gym is located in); Wat Santai (the temple / landmark for the driver to get to.

Santai Gym is adjacent to the temple); and Muay Thai Gym / Kay Muay in Thai (let the driver know you are going to the Muay Thai gym beside the temple Wat Santai). If you take a tuk-tuk or a taxi, make sure you are dropped off at Santai Muay Thai Gym, and not another gym or location, making you take another tuk-tuk or taxi and costing you more money.
