The internal health and wellness retreat is located on one of the most beautiful islands in The Caribbean: Barbados! Tai Chi, yoga, and Qigong will be the main focus during your stay but don't be surprised if you learn something completely off topic. You will be given 25 hours of first-class instruction in groups no larger than seven people to ensure you get the attention you deserve. By the end of the retreat, you will be completely rebalanced and feel a sense of peace within, ready to go back to your life energized with your new knowledge which you can practice daily for the rest of your life!

Located on the rugged East coast of Barbados with unspoiled, picturesque, panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Bathsheba Coastline, you will wake up uplifted, ready to train, and inspired by the stunning backdrop. The private villa is built on a two and a half acres plot of land with lush green gardens and a spectacular swimming pool. Secluded, private, and peaceful, your health retreat is perfect for deep internal practice.

From the moment you drive through the electric gates and pass through the natural tunnel of trees up to the elevated villa, you will instantly feel at peace and ready to start the amazing experience you will have here. Inside, the property has spacious living and entertainment areas with a fully equipped kitchen where your food will be prepared for you every day. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and come equipped with a fan and A / C unit. Private en-suite rooms are available but limited.


What you will learn

Tai Chi

Tàijí ("supreme ultimate"), more commonly known in the west as Tai Chi, is an internal Chinese martial art practiced slowly, relaxed, and with deep natural breathing techniques. It can be classified as moving Qigong / meditation which has many great health benefits, particularly being a great form of stress relief, relief of nervous tension, and the lowering of high blood pressure.

Practicing Tai Chi brings a state of mental calmness and clarity, you will gain a complete sense of wellbeing as your muscles and joints get a gentle workout. Once you know the basics and a Tai Chi form, you should practice it daily for the rest of your life.


Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning "union or connection" which is mainly thought of as doing various body postures and holds for the purpose of increasing flexibility but there is a lot more to yoga than just that. Yoga practices include postures (asana), breathing (pranayama), control of subtle forces (mudra and bandha), cleansing the body-mind (shat karma), mantra chanting, and many forms of meditation.

Yoga will help you facilitate balance and health, with frequent practice you will become more aware of yourself leading to self-mastery and self-realization. Awareness is the secret of yoga.


Qigong directly translates to "energy work" or "energy cultivation" and like Tai Chi, has many different routines some requiring you to be still without movement and others requiring you to move in specific ways or alignments in a relaxed meditative state with deep breathing techniques, mostly practiced while standing.

Qigong is a lot simpler to learn than Tai Chi with less complicated and shorter movements which can be picked up within a few hours, however, being able to completely relax and empty your mind will take time and daily practice. You can expect similar health benefits as those associated with Tai Chi but the more you practice and progress the more relaxed, less stressed, and in tune with everything you will become.

The retreat

Overall, one thing Tai Chi, Qigong, and yoga all have in common and that is deep, mindful, breathing techniques. By attending this retreat, your mind and body are going to be supercharged. You will be taught how to pay close attention to the breath and observe it. After a while, you will be more aware of your thoughts and emotions allowing you to control them better.

A combination of Tai Chi and yoga asanas will physically strengthen your body and make you more aware of your movement while enhancing your balance and coordination. One thing for sure, at the end of this retreat, your health, concentration, relaxation, and awareness are all going to be improved.


Sunday is arrival day: Once the last person has arrived at the airport, the mini-bus will drive you to your private retreat where you will be given a tour of the residence, then shown to your room where you will have time to settle and prepare for the evening meal, where you will get to know each other and Scott will give you details of the week ahead.

Monday to Friday: You will be taught a minimum of 5 hours per day starting at 06:30 a.m. with Qigong directly followed by a yoga class. You will spend more time learning Tai Chi as this will be the most difficult for you to remember. See the schedule:

  • 06:30 Qigong (moving) 30 minutes
  • 07:00 - 08:00 Yoga (various asana and mantra chanting) 60 minutes
  • 08:15 Breakfast
  • 10:30 Tai Chi 90 minutes
  • 12:00 Lunch
  • 15:00 Tai Chi 90 minutes
  • 16:30 Qigong (still Zhan Zhuang) 30 minutes
  • 18:00 Dinner (Friday evening dinner will be out at a restaurant to end the week)

Saturday: Breakfast will be as usual at 08:15 a.m. and then check-out is at 10:00 a.m. Rising Dragon Martial Arts School can help you with onward travel back to the airport or another part of the island if you wish to stay longer for sightseeing, etc.

Check-out on Sunday is available at an extra cost but will be at 8 a.m. due to cleaning and housekeeping in preparation for the next guests.

The diet will consist of fresh fish, chicken, pork, beef, vegetables, salad, fruit, eggs, and berries prepared by a Bajan chef, Bajan cuisine is delicious! All food is purchased from local fisherman and local organic farms. Rising Dragon Martial Arts School can cater for vegetarian, vegan, and any other type of dietary requirement, just let them know at the time of booking.

Throughout the day, there will be fresh coconut water on hand and snacks such as nuts and fruit; you will love the mixed berry, banana, and avocado smoothie every morning with your breakfast.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
