Students stay on shared housing basis, or they can rent a private room that meets their needs. This will not be a club med vacation. You will be on a program designed for learning the martial arts and developing your personal attributes. You come to learn the martial science and or experience a unique adventure. So do not expect the same conditions and amenities that you have at home. Flexibility is key.

The center is strict with the rules and regulations. So make sure that you understand these rules prior to your attendance. The academy want to focus on teaching and training.

In the vicinity, there are many restaurants, shops, and other services. The center is a short moped ride to Lamai Town and beach for more options and nightlife.

Rick Tew's Winjitsu Academy Thailand Ninja School Program

The training you will endure in this program is a vehicle to achieving an improved self-worth. The motives are drawn from the desires for happiness, freedom, and adventure. In the system of Rick Tew’s Martial Science, you will learn many skills that are not taught in most martial arts.

It is not limited to the approach of having any number of set kata or self-defense techniques. A typical martial art has already decided what makes up that style. The style, be it Tae Kwon Do, Wing Chun, Hapkido, Aikido, or Judo, is already packaged. When the student arrives, it is the job of the instructor to teach him/her this package and have him/her mold to its specifications.

This is the biggest reason this academy is not a martial art. Instead, it’s a science that develops around the package of the student instead of making attempts at creating monotonous warriors.

Rick Tew's NinjaGym

Tew's total training consists of techniques that teach you how to be prepared. Preparation for a realistic combat situation will not arrive through traditional or old-style martial arts practice. A well-prepared warrior is ready to face all types of situations. How can a martial art call itself a practical form of self-defense when it sets its own limitations?

Most practitioners of martial arts never leave the comfort of the mat, and therefore repeat techniques in a non-changing environment. By doing this, they will be preparing themselves for only a set context. The NinjaGym practitioner, on the other hand, will endure a variety of challenges in many areas, both mental and physical.

Students will find each class unique while still getting the essential growth toward a natural use of mind, body, and spirit. Because of the academy’s versatility, students will not become bored with the necessary and repetitious training. Rick Tew's NinjaGym is not just a combination of many arts that make it into its elite system. Though it has a background in forms such as Ninjitsu, full contact kickboxing, wrestling, and Karate, it surpasses the limitations of these arts.

Rick Tew's NinjaGym is realistic, practical, effective, and fun to learn. There are no limitations such as having a "ninja punch" which would limit the versatility of a total warrior. The total warrior uses information as an instrument for development, not as a rule. It encompasses the best of all skills to benefit the purpose of building mind, body, and spirit.

Although the academy teach almost every aspect of the martial arts, the following list are some key areas that they focus on when developing a student’s potential:

  • Flexibility and breathing
  • Physical fitness and weight loss
  • Food and diet
  • Visualization and meditation
  • Principles of combat
  • Hand to hand/weapon training
  • Gymnastics and stunt technique
  • Business and success
  • Kicking and punching
  • Ground fighting and grappling
  • Mental strategies for success
  • Mind control and memory skills
  • Weapon and training tools

Rick Tew's NinjaGym doesn’t set limitations on its students, they are allowed to develop at a much faster rate. This rate is often three times faster than the average martial art school.

Another key point to bring out into the open is realism. And this goes for Ninjitsu as well as most other martial arts. Rick Tew’s NinjaGym try to maintain a focused realistic approach to training. Thus, you won't find RTMS instructors teaching students to defend against a reverse punch or have them standing in line punching over and over while chanting numbers.

Rick Tew's NinjaGym do have basic training, but it is fun and flexible. Rick Tew's NinjaGym maintain authority and discipline without having to degrade the student. Rick Tew's NinjaGym believe in teaching (or putting back the "self" in) self-discipline. Self-means that you want to do it and not just that someone is screaming at you for more push-ups.

Even though Rick Tew's NinjaGym focus on realism, they also understand the martial arts is a place to have fun. So Rick Tew's NinjaGym will teach techniques that I know won't work in a fight, but they will tell the students beforehand that this is to develop a certain kick or type of body movement. Rick Tew's NinjaGym like to include as much as possible to train a student in all facets of the arts while still getting serious training.

All students are taught by either Sensei Tew, assistant instructor, or higher ranked member of the program. Students will also be trained by course instructors that specialize in unique topics (yoga, meditation, nutrition, taichi, etc.). The courses are open to everyone. Martial arts experience is not compulsory. However, it would help if you are a health conscious person and like the outdoors.

If you miss more than three classes without permission from Rick Tew or appointed Instructor, you may be removed from the program without refund. You are eligible to join if you are at least 18 years of age.

You have no health or physical handicaps that keep you from following the program (unless with doctors permission). You have no obligations that keep you from following the program. You get along well with other people and do not have a temper or bad attitude.

You are self-motivated, hardworking, and self-disciplined. You are a non-smoker and interested in eating healthy. You have a desire to learn martial arts and live a lifestyle of adventure.

You will be required to sign a training agreement which includes the terms and conditions of your contract with the Rick Tew Winjitsu Academy. Failure to sign this agreement will lead to the annulment of your order without a refund.

Saturday and Sunday are reserved for the students as off days. You can rest after a long week of training. The weekend is also used to organize personal needs. Most students will spend their time relaxing and preparing for the next week, however, it is still possible to train and practice what you have learned so far.

If you want a more economical way to travel, take the VIP bus from the well-known Khao San Road or from the southern bus terminal at Boromrat Chonnani Road in Bangkok. The VIP buses are more comfortable than A/C bus. You can buy a ticket in almost every travel agency in Bangkok. The ferry is often included in the price.
