Tai Chi

Tai Chi literally means Grand Ultimate. Also known as Taiji, it was originally created as a martial art but is more commonly known today for its health benefits. Originating in China hundreds of years ago, Tai Chi is most widely known for its system of slow meditative movements, known as the "form", which greatly enhances relaxation and concentration capabilities, as well as body mechanics.

Natural outcomes of practicing the "form" include the reduction of stress and the balancing of one's emotions. Before advancing to the practice of faster movements, one has to spend a long time re-learning how to move in a natural and efficient manner, utilizing proper structure, alignment, and intent.

The slow, graceful, and continuous movements found in the "form" are gentle on the joints and muscles, so they are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Tai Chi is often referred to as a type of moving meditation because it stimulates and unifies the mind, body, and spirit.
