Also known as Thai yoga and Thai bodywork, Vedic Thai massage is an ancient tradition, that is just becoming more well known in the west now. It combines the holistic arts of massage therapy, yoga, and meditation to bring about many health benefits. Not only do you get to stretch and breathe, but you also become calm and balanced within your energy centers.
For all of human history, this type of treatment could only be done far across the ocean in Thailand itself. It is not until the late 1960's that it has come to your doorstep here in America. Many still are unfamiliar with this form of therapy most commonly done on the floor on top of a futon or padded mat. Some might feel intimidated by this new and out-of-our-common-routine treatment but once you experience it for yourself we know we will see you for years to come.
Vedic Thai Massage honors the ancient history of Vedas, an oral tradition and holistic system encompassing, body, mind, and spirit. Beyond 4000 years ago, this healing system (along with Ayurveda) was the ultimate form of medical treatment, accounting for the medicinal use of herbs, food, forms of meditation, yoga, and profound massage techniques and treatments. Some of the massage techniques will give you bolts of energy, or drain toxins out of your body. The positions you'll be placed in are specifically designed to promote cellular regeneration and oxygenate the blood through deep rhythmic breathing during the treatment.
Simply, Thai yoga bodywork (or Vedic Thai therapy) can be counted as a massage but is surprisingly different. It adds a more dynamic approach. The practitioner is able to use their whole body (hands, elbows, knees, and feet) to position the body in enlightening ways. The receiver is often sent into a calm, meditation-like experience. Additionally, Thai Vedic therapy is able to balance energies within your body by opening the energy channels in the body called Meridians, used by the Chinese for thousands of years and still today. Typically, a session can last between 60 minutes to 2 hours.

Please book your flight to arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). The airport is situated about 20 minutes outside of the capital city of San Jose, Costa Rica. Most of the International flights arrive in this airport. Rancho Delicioso, a 43 Hectare (106 acres) property, is in the center of the Southern Nicoya Peninsula between the towns of Santa Teresa, Malpais, and Montezuma. You can reach Rancho Delicioso in many ways including:
Sansa and Nature Air are the two airlines that offer domestic flights to Tambor Airport (TMU). It takes only 30 minutes of air travel to reach this local airport in Tambor. From San Jose and it will cost 75 - 105 USD (each way). There are no flights from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) to Tambor. After reaching Tambor, you can take a taxi with a 30-minute scenic ride for 40 USD. You can’t always get the flight you want right after you arrive, in which case you can stay in a hotel near the airport for a night.
If you’re flying with Sansa Airlines, you must leave the international airport and walk to the left, to a smaller building about two blocks away, where you will find the Sansa ticket office in the Domestic terminal. There you can book Sansa air ticket to Tambor. This airline’s luggage weight maximum is a little bit lower than the international flights, so you may have to pay a bit extra.
You can also ask for a rental car waiting at the airport in Tambor. It will make your journey more stress free and you will not have to worry about navigating the whole journey. It’s better to rent a 4×4 car as it will be perfect for the adventurous roads.
Shuttle van service is provided by Montezuma Expeditions and is around 50 USD from the airport directly to the farm. You should sign up for this group shuttle by email ahead of time. You will get a confirmation email and they’ll provide you details of how it works.
From the airport to the ferry in Puntarenas, it takes 90 minutes. You will get your tickets from the shuttle driver who will also help you board the ferry. You carry your luggage onto the ferry and another shuttle picks you up on the other side. The ferry ride will also take about 90 minutes. The ferry is fun and you can sometimes see dolphins, whales or other sea life.
On the other side in Paquera, you will board another shuttle with which you will reach the amazing Nicoya Peninsula area. From Paquera, it will take another 90 minutes to reach Rancho Delicioso.
When returning, the pick-up time from Rancho Delicioso is 7:00 a.m. in high season and 9:00 a.m. in low season. You will reach Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) between 12 - 12:30 p.m. or 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. Keep in mind that you must arrive a minimum of 2 hours before your flight leaves, and they actually recommend 3 hours.
