Por Silaphai Gym has a boxing lodge at their new location, just 2 minutes walking distance from the gym and in a very convenient location, above the 7/11 convenience store. It's next to the local fresh market, restaurants, shops, pharmacy, laundry service, and with easy access to the old city and night market. The lodge has two double rooms, one twin room and one dorm room (with 4 beds) with A/C, free Wifi and shared bathrooms (between two rooms on each floor). The prices do not include the power and water bill. There is a common room on the third floor with dining area (microwave, fridge). The rooms require advance booking. If you prefer to stay somewhere else, there are plenty of hostels and hotels in the area.

Due to very poor public transport in Chiang Mai, it is recommended that you rent a scooter or a bike to go around the city area, if you plan to stay here longer that one week. We will arrange a rental for you. However, the location is in the city center, don't worry everything is in walking distance.

Por Silaphaigm offers one week training program, suitable for both absolutely beginners and highly experienced professional fighters. The certified Khure Muay Thai (trainers) will teach you all the basics needed. You will work with a partner and a trainer to learn how to use these techniques. You will work on the pads, punching bag, light sparring, and exercise for strength and stamina until you have a good basic knowledge on Muay Thai. It will be covered in one week, and last a lifetime in your memory.

    Great coaches

CONS Cons: I do wish they could change it up a little bit. Do different warm ups and cool downs as these are always the same and so gets boring.

PROS Pros: The gym was very close to the centre so can easily be reached, it wasnt very packed and there were plenty of coaches to help all the people training. The coaches were so good, always pushing you to do your best and helping you improve.

Organizer response: Hi Ana, Thank you for your review and comment, will tell the trainers about your advice. Cheers.

    Great accommodation+training package

PROS Pros: The training groups were 90%of the time quite small which was nice and the trainers were really friendly. Accommodation was basic but good, clean and in to of a 7 eleven and next to a small food venue

Organizer response: Thank you for you review and comment. Cheers

"Por Silaphaigym provided everything I could've wanted out of a Muay Thai training camp. The balance between conditioning, technique, drilling and sparring was pretty much perfect, and the trainers were absolutely amazing people, extremely knowledgeable on Muay Thai and very welcoming of foreign fighters to their gym. If you put the effort in, you feel like you're part of the family there. Accommodation was also good - basic, but comfortable. I will be back for sure. To Sit and Nok, and the rest of the Por Silaphaigym crew - thank you for a life changing experience."

"I booked for one month trough your website and extended for two more weeks. I really enjoy the time I spend there. The training was great. I improved a lot. I could feel from the beginning that they have experience in teaching and also in fighting. They know what they are doing and even tho the trainers don't speak English well they knew how to show us the techniques and so on. People where here for two hours up to two month and everyone was happy when leaving. Some wanted to loose wait others like me to fight and the trainer could adapt the techniques and the pedagogy according to our expectation."

"The location couldn't be better. Because it is outside the old town but close enough to everything. So it is outside the touristic area (old town) the price around the gym (food, clothes, massage) are cheaper. Still with a scooter the old town and the bars are ten minutes away. Everything else is ten to twenty minutes away. And the night market is reachable by foot. In one word you are fare enough to focus on the training and close enough to have good time to relax."

"The gym accommodation was clean with ac and hot water, a fridge and a micro wave. Only 500 meters from the gym. The general ambiance was great with the owner who put everyone in a good mood from the beginning. Overall rating: 8/10. The English could be better and the products they sell should be good quality. (Hand wrap and tooth protection they sell next to the gym are not good quality)."

"Por Silaphaigym is a really good place for Muay Thai training. The location is about 15 minutes' drive from the old city. It's a really relaxed and peaceful place. Not much distraction that might bother the training, and on the other hand, not far from the city to have some fun. The accommodation is about 2 kilometers from the gym, run by a really nice and friendly family. The family gave us everything we need. I came here for 4 weeks of training. I was a newbie. The gym made me feel so comfortable. They put a lot attention on me and made me improve step by step quickly. Training is hard but only physically. We motivated each other and got through it. So I didn’t feel it was difficult to do it. We trained together, ate together, watched fights together and barbecued together like a big family. I had great fun and enjoyed the training pretty much. Will come back for more and for a fight."

"I wanted to leave Bangkok to train Muay Thai for a few months in order to change a few bad habits and hopefully shed some weight. Having read the reviews here and talked to the owner, Sit, i decided to go to Chiang Mai and join this boxing camp and I was not disappointed. From this first moment you arrive, the Silaphai camp family welcomes you with open arms, and they adjust the training to suit your needs. They make your goals, their goals as well. The area is about a 20-minute bike ride from the city. However, there are supermarkets, tourist attractions, and other conveniences near by so you would not really need to go into the city. Its close enough to go everyday, but also far enough to allow you to effectively concentrate on the training. The camp has all the facilities needed to effectively practice like any other top-rated gym. And there are even places to go for a nice run around the area. The trainers have a high attention to detail and personalize the training to help suit the needs of the students. Unlike at some other gyms, you will get to the opportunity to train with them right from the very first session. Sit, the owner, always tries his best to make sure his students' needs are met and always encourages them to meet their goals. He can even help arrange for you to have a fight experience at Tha Pae stadium. The cooking by the owner's wife, Wadee, is amazing and is guaranteed to be some of the best cooking in Chiang mai. The accommodations for the camp were bungalows where many of the camps guests stayed, creating a sense of family. The atmosphere at the camp was a fun atmosphere where students helped push each other to reach their goals and give each other advice along the way, whether it be losing weight or eventually stepping into the ring to experience a real fight. The gym always arranges for night-outs to go watch fights in the main city area, especially when the trainers or students of the gym are scheduled to fight. Training here for 2 and a half months has been unbelievable. Not only did the training help me lose 18 kilos, but it helped me gain another family and new found respect and love for Muay Thai along the way. I will definitely be back for more soon."

"I trained at Por Silaphai gym in March and I didnt really know what to expect seeing as I was new to Thai boxing. I came there without notice and I immediately felt welcome. The fighters, trainers and owner are very kind and willing to motivate you to reach the goal youve set for yourself. If you want to train hard to prepare for a fight or just seeking a good way to exercise and have fun, either way youre at the right address. The gym is located only 10 minutes from the old town center of Chiang Mai but its not crowded at all, a good setting for a gym in my opinion. After a month of training I felt sad leaving as I made a lot of new friends, but Im sure that one day Ill be back."
