Lydia Chang is the co-founder, creative director and principal teacher for the regularly scheduled weekend retreat and signature yoga vacation at Origin Yoga & Wellness. In 2014, she traveled to India and completed the 200-hours Yoga Alliance teacher training with Patanjali International Yoga Foundation. She dedicated herself ever since to the practice, study and teaching of yoga. While rooted in classical Hatha yoga, Lydia continued to deepen her practice and expand the scope of her studies in Ashtanga and Ayurveda yoga.

Professor Lin is a guest teacher at Origin Yoga & Wellness. Professor Lin is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Black Belt and lifelong martial artist with over 29 years of experience. Having competed successfully in Canada and the USA at the national and international level, Professor Lin combines his experience as an athlete and competitor with his passion for sharing an art he truly loves with his students. He is respected as one of the best, most technical and accomplished BJJ instructors in Canada. He has consistently produced successful local, national and world champions.

I visited the Origin Yoga & Wellness Retreat for a weekend in June 2017. Located about an hour or so drive outside of Taipei city, on the northernmost point of Taiwan. Lydia, the retreat owner, helped me to arrange my travel to and from the retreat. I arrived on the Friday afternoon and stayed for two nights. My room was comfortable and clean - Don’t let the exterior of the complex put you off, inside the café, yoga studio and sleeping accommodation it is in excellent condition and is tastefully decorated with beautiful views over the beach.
On Saturday, after a tasty breakfast we spent the morning doing yoga. The yoga is easy to follow and Lydia is an excellent teacher. Clear explanations and working to everyone’s different levels and capabilities - with Lydia’s guidance I was able to do my first freestanding headstand! In the afternoon we had a meditation session with Lydia’s father the Zen Master, it was an interesting introduction to mindfulness that I found both useful and relaxing.Then we took part in community beach cleaning before a meditation session on the freshly cleaned beach. In the evening we took a trip to the local hot springs.
Sunday, I was the only guest at the retreat so had an early morning one-to-one yoga session on the beach which was the highlight of my stay. In the afternoon Lydia took me to visit a temple and shopping on a traditional old street. The food was delicious! Edward, Lydia’s brother and the retreat chef, made a wide variety of fresh, healthy vegetarian, raw and vegan food including some traditional Taiwanese dishes. All washed down with the retreats own specialty Kombucha drink. On my return to the UK Lydia has kept in touch and sent me some of the recipes that I enjoyed during my stay and given me advice on how to brew my own Kombucha.
I would definitely recommend the retreat to everyone looking for a relaxing break in a peaceful location with good company and nourishing food. Perfect. Thank you Lydia and Edward!

I was visiting from Canada and so happy to have found this place. From the outside you would never know there's such a beautiful place inside. Accommodation space is clean and comfortable with a gorgeous view. I signed up for a full day yoga retreat with Lydia and was not disappointed. Been doing yoga for many years but still learned lots from Lydia. The retreat was wonderfully planned to provide guests a truly holistic experience. Lydia's brother Edward is an excellent cook, the healthy meals and homemade dessert are not to be missed. Totally recommend Origin yoga for a unique and relaxing yoga holiday.
To celebrate the International Yoga Day, our wonderful yoga instructor, Lydia guided us through pranayama, asana practice in the studio, the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful morning beach view! Learning about Mindfulness in the early afternoon with the Zen master (Lydia's father) brought me inner peace and so much gratitude.
Beach cleaning in late afternoon is such a great way to connect ourselves with the Mother Nature and restore her beauty. After the cleaning, Lydia wrapped up the day with a peaceful meditation at the sand beach while appreciating the sunset...(love it!)
The food (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea) prepared by their talented chef, Edward (Lydia's brother) was exquisite! Everything is so fresh, healthy and delicious! The homemade Konbucha, the product of Orgin Wellness is very tasty and I can't recommend more!
What touches my heart most about Origin Yoga & Wellness is the pure essence of everything: Down-to-earth owners promoting the simplicity of life, genuine service, excellent food with freshness, and connecting to not only the beautiful nature, but within ourselves. :))

My half-day retreat at Origin Yoga & Wellness was an experience to remember. It was a delight practicing yoga and meditation with the amazing beach view in front of us, and the gourmet vegetarian lunch that followed was delicious. After lunch, we enjoyed a peaceful beach cleaning session while taking in the beautiful scenery, and then ended the afternoon by meditating on the beach. The studio is bright, clean, and comfortable, and Lydia's warm, jubilant personality is a joy to be around. Thanks, Lydia, for a 5-star experience!

We went to the Origin Yoga on Sunday and spent a lovely afternoon in Baishawan. I loved Lydia's beautiful presence and loving heart. And I admire her for organising beach clean-ups - we really need to offer more love to the Mother Earth. Oh, and her raw vegan cranberry cheesecake with some tulsi tea was an amazing treat! We'll be back!
