For those looking to fully immerse themselves in a true fight camp atmosphere, we have a brand new, purpose-built dorm room onsite at Monsoon Gym & Fight Club. Just a few meters from the training area and the gym, The Fight Dorm offers a great communal atmosphere. With numerous training sessions going on throughout the day, theres no reason to venture farther than the camp to relax and refresh yourself.
The beds are comfortable and the linens are changed weekly. Toilets and showers are just outside and around the corner. Throughout the day, the windows are opened and the fans are engaged to keep the room fresh.
Our cleaner will be in multiple times to tidy up. At night, the aircon will be turned on and quiet time starts from 10 p.m. With only 12 beds available, make sure to book your spot ahead of time. Nightly, weekly and monthly rates are available
Each day, you will wake up early and begin training in either Muay Thai or boxing for 1.5 hours including warm-up/down, pad work with our stable of experienced professional trainers, and bag work.
You will then have a chance to take a dip in the sea less than 100 meters from our doorstep, grab a breakfast at one of the many cafes along Koh Tao's beautiful Sairee Beach, have some time for relaxing, perhaps a bit of time in the weight room, lunch, and a bit of downtime before the afternoon session of fight training.
You have the opportunity to substitute one of your training sessions for our Gladiator fitness class, BJJ,Zumba, or any of the other available classes at the time. Monsoon Gym & Fight Club has a steady flow of personal trainers coming through who teach their own disciplines from time to time and this selection changes frequently. The gym is open daily from 07:00 - 21:00.
Evenings can be spent sitting around the community area watching movies on our big-screen, having a few drinks at some of the nearby beach bars, or just recovering in our comfortable air-conditioned dorm room.
One of the worlds toughest, most-intense fight sports, Muay Thai training has recently been embraced by martial arts enthusiasts of all disciplines. As a means of increasing, stamina, power, and striking, there are few sports on the planet to match the results of Muay Thai training.
Known as The art of 8 strikes, Muay Thai fighters are skilled in various kicks and punches, as well as elbow & knee strikes from both sides of the body. Muay Thai training starts with stretching to loosen up, then cardio training - either a light run or a few minutes of skipping rope.
This is followed by intermittent bag work and striking with our trainers, usually making five 3-minute rounds. Each round is followed by a 3-minute session of bag work and 3 minutes of rest. At the end youll do abs exercises and further stretching. Its a simple process, but results are achieved quickly.
As you progress, well introduce stand-up grappling skills and throws, and finally well get you into the ring for sparring sessions with other trainees. For those willing to test their skills in a real Muay Thai fight, well arrange that for you at one of the Muay Thai events that happen 3 - 4 times monthly on Koh Tao.
Gladiotor fitness training improves strength, cardio, core, speed and agility, muscle endurance, and function. It is a series of intense workout sessions focusing on functional, total body movements, and conditioning. We vary the training each day; one training may emphasize strength and muscular endurance, while another focuses on cardio and core strength.
We use our own body weight, circuits, and partner exercises. The goal of Gladiator fitness is to train your whole body and the benefits will carry over to virtually any sport! Gladiator sessions run twice daily, 6 days a week and can be packaged with Muay Thai or traditional boxing training.
Monsoon Gym & Fight Club was first opened on Koh Tao in 2001 and has been operating non-stop since then. The gym is fully air-conditioned with all new cardio and weight training equipment. For the uninitiated, our trainers can build a personal training program to help you meet your fitness goals.
Monsoon Gym & Fight Club overlooks the fight training area and is beautifully situated in a coconut garden. After a workout you can grab a quick protein shake and watch the Muay Thai, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, or Gladiator classes.
Bang, our head trainer at Monsoon Gym & Fight Club, is one of the most experienced Muay Thai trainers in the south of Thailand. Having grown up as a fighter, he's trained many former Southern Thai & Lumpinee champions. Hes also done stints training at MMA gyms in both Sweden & the USA, overcoming all language barriers.
Nadine is our Gladiator fitness instructor. Working in her native Holland as a trainer gave her some valuable experience training with loads of people who were looking for ways to reach the next level in various sports. Her preferred sport is Muay Thai. Shes an accomplished fighter who has many fights under her belt in Europe, as well as Thailand. She found that Gladiator training was a fantastic way to increase her speed, endurance, and core strength. Shes since found that it can address the needs of most any athlete and is happy to impart her knowledge.
Monsoon Gym & Fight Club is located in the heart of the island, just a short 1 minute walk to the nicest part of Sairee Beach and within easy walking distance of the islands main pier at Mae Haad. 7/11s, banks, restaurants, bars, and lots of nightlife venues are all nearby.
Diving and snorkeling are Ko Tao's tourism mainstay and this is one of the most popular places in the world to learn to become a certified diver. The most popular sites, including Chumphon Pinnacle, Sail Rock and Southwest Pinnacle, are some kilometers from the island, where fish gather in larger numbers.
For a beautiful day excursion, head out to the beautiful island of Koh Nang Yuan. Brillant for snorkeling, swimming, or just chilling on the pure white sand beaches. The water is so clear it is like looking at an aquarium.
Sairee Beach is the most popular beach on Ko Tao, but the funny thing is, it does not feel to overcrowded. This is a beautiful beach to chill or take a dip. The water is crystal clear and the waves are minimal. There are palm trees lined up and down the beach to protect you from sunburn while you read or snooze or talk with that attractive traveler next to you. There are also restaurants and clubs lined up and down the beach to grab a bite, a beer, and watch some impressive fire dances at night.
"I really recommend the Monsoon Gym! I staid for a week at their dorm and trained for six days, twice a day. The trainers are great, professional and lots of fun! The other people who stay at the gym or who come to train, are all nice people and there is a great atmosphere! Between two sessions, we would go to the beach to relax or play frisbee with the trainers and other participants. I would definitely come back!"

"Monsoon gym - what a truly life-changing inspirational place. The trainers are some of the best you will find anywhere and their dedication to making you achieve the best of your ability is second to none. Not only do they invite you with open arms into their way of life, they also give you the amazing opportunity to embrace Thailand's culture which is truly inspirational. I was also fortunate enough to meet some of the world's finest Jiu Jitsu experts at a two week camp which was hosted by 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. I was blown away by the amazing skills that came into a fight club on such a tiny little island. I was also fortunate enough to be trained by some of these fighters including Nathan Orchard, Geo Martinez and UFC's Peter Sobotta. One word - wow! On reflection I have left this club after three weeks with a set of martial art skills straddling two disciplines which has inspired me to carry on taking four classes a week in the U.K. I have also learnt life skills from some of the most humble people you will find within any sport. The level of fitness this gym offers allowed me to lose over 7.5 kilos in weight in three weeks. Above all I met new people from around the world and made some very good friends. The trainers are my Koh Tao family and I will be returning next August for the joint enterprise of Monsoon Gym and 10th Planet! A massive thank you to Darius, Tim and the amazing team of trainers Bow, Si, Om, and Chang!"

"I stayed at Monsoon for the last month of my travelling in Thailand and really was better than I ever could have imagined. The gym and equipment is all brand new, the trainers are all of a very high standard and accommodation is cheap and perfect for what you need to train. With only a minute walk from the beach makes it so easy to chill out after you train hard.The owner Darius is just a seriously genuine bloke and makes you feel welcome from the second you walk in. The coaches are all if great standard but also up for a laugh as well which is exactly what I want when I'm training. Overall brilliant place and I will be returning as soon as I can."

The standard of the training was second to none with over 500 professional fights between the trainers they knew what, how, and when.The dorm was great cleaned daily with a very light vibe which encouraged participation in the sessions, everybody really worked as a team. "Monsoon Gym was great, the trainers there were super friendly and helpful, but definitely pushed you to your limit. We got so much better at Muay Thai in just a week, and definitely ramped up my fitness level! The BJJ seemed to be in a bit of a state of flux, the sessions were great but a bit more sporadic as to when they were actually running. The dorm was kept really clean, and clean gloves, hand-wraps and towels were provided and there was a cheap laundry service. Overall, a fantastic and professional centre."

"I came to Monsoon Gym a complete novice at Muay Thai, but that didn't matter at all. The trainers here taught me in less than one lesson the techniques of how to kick, punch, knee, elbow etc, and by the next lesson I felt very confident with my abilities.I have been training for 3 weeks and I do have one week left here. This place has helped me become stronger, improved my fitness in ways that I didn't think were possible, the trainers here are such lovely people, and they push you!Yes I do have a go at them as they are forcing me to finish my rounds, but when I look back at the end of the lesson, I am glad that they did. I cannot fault this club. The training, people, the whole vibe of the place are just epic. You wont regret coming here."

"Joined Monsoon Gym and Fight Club in January after a few months travelling Asia to train Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and generally get back in shape. Intended for 1 month but ended up staying 2 moving into the gym dorm in the second month for added motivation. A great atmosphere at the place with many like minded people on the same or similar paths."
