While staying at one of Jungles Edge’s many accommodations, guests will be surrounded by breathtaking wildlife and astounding flora, including 500 banana trees of many varieties. They also boast a saltwater infinity pool, one of Bed and Breakfasts top ten coolest pools, and a 40 by 60 feet open-air workout area for yoga, martial arts, Pilates, barre and high-performance fitness, and surf training.

Their communal rancho allows guests to use full kitchen services, a juice bar, and complimentary wireless service. All inclusive retreats for yoga, fitness, surf camp, and their famous flop n’ drop are available. They also host many independent group retreats of up to 50 people.

    Currently, Liz teaches private lessons at her home studio in Tillson, New York. Liz has over 500 plus hours of experience. She's taken yoga teacher trainings in Thailand and Costa Rica and is looking to share her knowledge and passion to other women who struggle with body image and overall confidence. When Liz isn't walking her beloved fur-child Suay, or out of the country island-hopping, you can find this 23 year old in a local improv class or practicing yoga in local studios.

Daily meals are included in the price. All foods are fresh, local, and organic straight from the farms of Costa Rica. The Costa Rican chefs cook up local recipes and prepare tropical smoothies and juices. They are able to cater to just about every dietary need. There will be no meals provided by the retreat on June 29. There are plenty of affordable, local owned restaurant options however nearby that they encourage you to try.

Jungles Edge is nestled in amongst the lushest green jungle and mountains that Central America has to offer. Their facilities are within a 15-minute peaceful walk to beautiful Guiones Beach and village. Guiones Beach has a unique marbled appearance of black and champagne colored sand, and the warm tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean.

While in the village you will find cafes, shops, and available banks. Their facilities are also only a short 5-minute walk to the nearby restaurants and supermarkets. During the downtime, you can also check the Costa Rican nightlife.

Juice bar

Quench your thirst with some jungle juice. All juices are made from locally grown fruits and vegetables that are sure to help cleanse your body. They offer a plethora of smoothies too.

Relax and eat

Relax in their open air, cool, and spacious rancho that’s truly on the Jungle’s Edge. You can also find relaxation with their available massages. The dining experience at Jungles Edge is sure to make your day or night even better.

Their chefs prepare the local Costa Rican cuisine daily and fresh fruit cocktails are made nightly. There are many local shops and restaurants to choose from on this special exploration day. Ask their staff for suggestions and favorites. Buffet style meals are available for groups.

Open air training studio

The open air training studio is in use each day with fitness classes, mix martial arts classes, and boxing classes. They have bags and pads for all users but encourage those who have equipment to bring their own.

Saltwater infinity pool

The eco-friendly saltwater infinity pool has breathtaking views of the mountains and the jungle surrounding Jungles Edge. It was ranked in Bed and Breakfast “Top 10 Cool Pools in the world for 2013″ and is the largest saltwater pool in Costa Rica.

Surfing

National Geographic Adventurer declared Guiones Beach as one of the world’s top 20 surf locations. Playa Guiones, Playa Pelada, and Playa Nosara are also protected as a wildlife refuge, and almost half of the region is protected forest land. Enjoy year-round consistent surf conditions that challenge the seasoned surfer but also offer great learning opportunities for beginners. Surf lessons with certified instructors are also available.

Directions from Liberia

  • Take a right out of the airport (or ask the rental car company to point you towards Nicoya) and drive 60 kilometers until you get to Nicoya.
  • At the blinking yellow traffic light, take a right towards Nicoya and Samara.
  • Then follow the road through the town of Nicoya, you will pass right through the center of town and out the other end. Stay straight for about 13 kilometers.
  • The road will come to a "T" intersection again with a small store in front named “Abastecedor Caimital”. Take a right.
  • Stay straight on that road for 19 kilometers or so and until you see a gas station on your left.
  • Right after the gas station, about 100 meters past, you will take a right onto the dirt road. You will see signs for Nosara. Drive slowly and carefully on the dirt road, especially at night. There will often be locals walking on both sides of the road and it is hard to see in the dark with no street lights whatsoever. Slow down while driving through the tiny little pueblos to reduce the dust that you kick up.
  • Follow the road for about eight kilometers until you come to a "T" intersection with signs in front of you.
  • Take a right at the intersection towards Nosara.
  • Now you are only 12 kilometers away. Stay straight and you will enter the Playa Guiones area.

Directions from San Jose

  • Exit the Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO) and follow the road straight, towards downtown San Jose.
  • At rental car company, ask them to point you towards the Autopista del Sol (highway 27) to Orotina and towards Escazu when you leave the lot.
  • Remain on this highway for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then, you will take a right at traffic light intersection.
  • You will see a McDonalds on the far left-hand corner of the intersection, and you will see a tall blue “Universal” sign on the right. This is the Autopista del Sol (Highway 27).
  • There will be a few tolls along the way, so have about 3 USD to 4 USD ready, preferably in Costa Rican Colones.
  • Then you will continue straight on the Autopista del Sol (without exiting) for about an hour. Follow the signs for Caldera and Puntarenas. Once you arrive in Puntarenas, Highway 27 will automatically turn into Highway 1.
  • Follow the signs to Liberia and you will be put right onto Highway 1. Once past Puntarenas, the next turn you will look for is a sign labeled “Puente La Amistad de Taiwan”.
  • Take a left towards the Puente La Amistad de Taiwan. You will cross over the big bridge, Puente La Amistad de Taiwan, and follow that road until it comes to a "T" intersection. This leg of the trip will be about 48 kilometers.
  • Take a right at that intersection, you will see a sign indicating Nosara, Playa Samara, and Carrillo.
  • The next intersection will be in Nicoya, about 13 kilometers from the last turn.
  • Take a left at the flashing yellow traffic light towards Nicoya. Then follow the road through the town of Nicoya, you will pass right through the center of town and out the other end. Stay straight for about 13 kilometers. The road will come to a "T" intersection again with a small store in front named “Abastecedor Caimital”.
  • Take a right. Stay straight on that road for 19 kilometers or so and until you see a gas station on your left.
  • Right after the gas station, about 100 meters past, you will take a right onto the dirt road. You will see signs for Nosara. Drive slowly and carefully on the dirt road, especially at night. Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Liberia International Airport (LIR) and Juan Santa Maria International Airport (SJO). Liz Leo Yoga can help organize your shuttle with other retreaters if you arrive around the same time on the same date.

For one-way transfer to or from Liberia International Airport (LIR), the price is 150 USD for one to four people or 40 USD per person for a group of five or more. For one-way transfer to or from Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO), the price is 260 USD for one to four people or 60 USD per person for a group of five or more.

Arrival by bus

Approximately six hours via this route, San José to Nicoya to Nosara. Bus departs from San José to Nosara every day at 5:30 a.m. The bus company is called Alfaro Buses. The San Jose terminal is in 14th street, 5th avenue. There is a bus stop in Esperanza directly in front of the entrance to Jungles Edge.

  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 30 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
