The Tsechokling Monastery, where you will live, was built under the direct auspices of the Dalai Lama. Located just outside the village in a forest, it is very quiet but still, the daily walk to the village is only five minutes up the stairs. The accommodation is directly in the monastery, allowing a unique experience of the daily lives in a Tibetan monastery.

The rooms are wonderful compared to what you can experience in India. But they are simple monastic lodgings, you have one or two beds a table and chairs and a few shelves. Each house has its own toilet and shower, which is shared with about six rooms. They are Spartan and Indian but clean.

There are generally very few toilet paper or western toilets in India, but you can buy the paper anywhere in the village and then equip the toilet with it. You should know that you are embarking on a simple accommodation in a monastery, but it can live there well for such a short time - and living so close to the monks and experience the unique atmosphere and daily living of the monks is a unique experience, seldom to find.

Karate in the monastery

Conny and Sascha have a special way to build the training process that is influenced by the training in Chinese monasteries. The goal is to really immerse in a topic, and to gain in-depth skills and new perspectives in contrast to traditional weekend courses.

Over the course of the 10 days, you will intensively deal with a topic and train all its aspects in classical martial arts. From intense practice to drill training, energetic and psychological aspects, tactics, fighting multiple opponents, etc. As in previous seminars in Dharamsala and China, the training offers a customized training process for black belts as well as beginners who have never before trained a martial art.

Dharamsala is a melting pot of Tibetan, Indian and global culture and the monastery is at the heart of the Tibetan exile culture. The place attracts countless restaurants and shops but is still very small and picturesque. The Dalai Lama can be seen at ceremonies or festivities when not traveling. Countless temples and monasteries are located in the village or in the surrounding area. Hiking in the mountains can be started from the village.

You will be served vegetarian monk breakfast in the monastery. For lunch and dinner, you can get from Dharamsala's many restaurants at an additional cost. The prices are extremely low for western standards.
