"Having trained Kung Fu for 13 years, learning Thai-Boxing was a breath of fresh air. More than anything it was the high quality instructors and the location of this gym that made my experience so memorable. The gym headmaster is nationally reknowned with 300+ fights to his credit and his individual instructors all have a considerable number of fights and title belts of their own. My own instructor, Fon, is a first rate combat teacher. He knew when to be patient, when to criticize, when to push me to work harder and when to praise. I had similar experiences when the other instructors taught me. Though I signed up for one to one classes, I also joined in group lessons. At the time I went, there weren't many students so almost every group lesson had one to one instructor training. In the space of a week, I really felt like I'd learned a lot."
"The location is superb! The gym is located right over a beach on the island of Koh Yao Noi which is well equipped for tourists but at the same time is peaceful and quiet. The weather was sunny most days with giant clouds rolling over the Andaman and a constant sea breeze that made the climate very pleasant. As the gym faces west, evening sunsets were spectacular."
"In addition to the training and location, the facilities were very pleasant. The rooms were comfortable, there was a pool for swimming, a nice common area and pleasant kitchen staff who made delicious Thai food very quickly."
"It was good value for money and made for one of the best martial arts training trips I've ever had."
"Our 8 year old son really wanted to try Muay Thai. To be honest, as parents we were a little more doubtful and we shouldn't have been! He was warmly welcomed and had a great lesson! Can't wait to go back!"

"Had a great time training at KYN for a week. The trainers were awesome and looked forward to training each day. The accommodation was basic, but the focus is not on this, rather it was on the Muay Thai training. The included meals were a bonus and would come back just for the food!"

"If you are looking for a good no a great Muay Thai experience this is a great place to stay. KYN Muay Thai gym is on the same grounds as Lam Sai Village Motel, with world class Muay Thai fighters & training. The head trainer Hlukhin Wassantasit has over 200 professional fights & most of his trainers have in the 100's of fights.Hlukhin is one of those people I admire so much that do this strictly for the love of martial arts & it is his lifestyle & his life. It is located right on the water. If you want to fight in the stadiums or if you are a beginner they will also teach you but you will still have to work hard, listen & not be timid to be yelled at occasionally!Next to the hotel it is perfect for fighters, a pool, quiet & secluded, the lounge is a great hang out for the fighters to bond & create some great life long friendships. A nice pool, right on the ocean, you can have a video made of your training, great Thai food at the restaurant they also hooked us up with a Thai massage place down the street, scooters & excursions.I couldn't think of a better training set up. There were other couples there too & the fighters in the lounge were not intimidating meatheads but friendly sociable types from all walks of life & places, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, The Netherlands, Sweden, France, USA, Germany, and the UK"

"Ok, this review is 4 years coming, as I was here for 2 weeks in 2010! Now that I've actively retired from Muay Thai, I can focus on the whole experience. My time there was fantastic. The training I will save for a more appropriate site, but as the title suggests, there was so much more! Lisa, Hluhkin and their son Payu were fantastic and always friendly and helpful. On a weekend off training, Hluhkin even gave us the experience and honor of accompanying him to visit his mother, who lives in a traditional rural setting in Surat Thani. We were welcome to great traditional thai food and hospitality, not to mention the resident chickens around the place! We also did a midnight fishing trip, on a thai fishing boat, in the dark of night, with a bunch of superstitious Thais, makeshift 'rods', and beer. Got out to Koh Nok, where we BBQ's our catch on the isolated and peaceful beach (the beers changed that!).Renting out a sea kayak on the training days off is also recommended: best wat to explore the channel between Ko Yao Noi and Ko Yao Yai, as well as the surrounding mangrove systems. Street food on KYN another highlight!!! Would definitely go back if the opportunity presented itself."

"Rooms are lacking a big red button which can be pressed to cancel your flights, email a leave of absense to your boss and extend your stay in KYN."
