Phitsanulok is an important, historic city in lower northern Thailand and is the capital of Phitsanulok Province, which stretches all the way to the Laotian border. It's the second biggest city in the area of Thailand above Bangkok, after Chiang Mai. We are a central transport hub between the north and south, so a visit to our town and gym is easy when you're traveling from or to Chiang Mai / Bangkok. We have a train station, minivan and bus stations and even an airport connecting you to destinations in all directions.
Phitsanulok is one of the oldest cities in Thailand, founded over 600 years ago. It is best known as the birthplace of King Naresuan, who freed the country from Burmese domination in the late 16th century, and that of his brother and successor King Ekathosarot.
As the crossroad between the northern and central regions of the country, it has long been important both for political and strategic reasons and was fought over many times in centuries past. Phitsanulok was the capital of Thailand for 25 years during the reign of King Boromma Trailokanat of Ayutthaya.
On the banks of the Nan River, the city was originally a small Khmer outpost known as Song Kwae, before the Khwae Noi River changed its course in the 11th century CE. Phitsanulok was also a provincial center of the Angkorian Empire during the Angkorian period. Phitsanulok is home to Naresuan University and Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University, as well as to a major Royal Thai Army base.
Our cool cafe serves up healthy twists on traditional Thai food, with an occasional more indulging treat. You can expect dishes such as Pad Thai, green curry, stir-fry, sweet and sour, sticky rice, fruit plates, fried egg and salads. We usually serve several different dishes, so there's always something you'll like.
Vegetarian, vegan or anything in between? No worries, we will make sure you won't be hungry or wonder "where do I get my protein?" at any moment! Half of our staff eats plant based or vegetarian, and we know what an active person needs to perform. Both physically and mentally: Thai cuisine understands that food nurtures the body and the soul.
Please let JP's know if you have any dietary requirements or requests and these will be catered for! Any allergies or preferences? Do tell us!
This unique part of Thailand is a beautiful place to let go and delve into the more spiritual side of life as you explore ancient grounds and old temples, the beautiful countryside and mountains lend themselves to relaxation.
