If you are interested in street defense, welcome to Jaguar Escrima, a non classical martial art for quick reaction and improvisational defense. You will receive training from Mike Garner who has over 30 years experience teaching the martial arts of Escrima, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, contact karate, kick boxing ,African Nuguni stick fighting, Kalari pat indian stick fighting. Located near Sabang beach in Palawan, Philippines, Jaguar Escrima will surely offer you a great time besides learning new techniques. In the Philippines, they train harder and play harder.
Simple native style accommodation can be provided to the students, or they can choose from a variety from cheap to expensive hotels in Sabang.
Training is 4 hours per day, 5 days a week. However, this schedule, just like Jaguar Escrima, is flexible and training hours and days can be tailored to suit the student. During your training, you will do conditioning and stretching, which are essential in any form of martial art training. The majority of training time will be spent on how to use Escrima modern weapons, and to master the techniques of the art.
Jaguar Escrima is non classical combining elements of Muay Thai, Kick boxing, Karate, and Krav Maga. It is not a competition martial art, but one designed for street combat. Escrima utilizes weapons which, in modern time, are mostly light and concealable, such as extendable batons, extendable nunchaku, and belt buckle knifes. This feature along with the unarmed combat make Jaguar Escrimaa formidable street defence.
Conditioning is an essential part of training. Thus, although Jaguar Escrima welcomes all levels alike, physical preparation before coming to the camp, and for the hot and humid climate in the Philippines is highly recommended.
Mike Garner has over 30 years experience teaching the martial arts of Escrima, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, and Kick boxing. He has taught in places as diverse as Micronesia, India, Thailand, the Caribbean, England, and the Philippines. Mikes Thai boxing instructor's were Thosophan Sitiwajana (Toddy) Chinawut Sirisompan (Woody) and Krinsak Sirisompan (Krin) these were the original Thai boxers who brought Thai boxing to England in the 1970s Mike also learned the Thai style of stick fighting from them known as Krabi kribong. Mike learned Escrima from many different instructor's both in the Philippines and England. In India Mike learned Kalari (Indian stick fighting) and when in Africa for several months learned Nuguni stick fighting.

Sabang is home to the world famous underground river, with Sabang beach located just a 5-minute walk from the Jaguar Escrima training camp. You can enjoy white sand and turquoise water here during your non-training time.
Food is not included in the price. Students are responsible for their own meals during the whole duration of the training. There are simple restaurants and more expensive ones like at the Sheridan hotel.
