There is also a washing machine available which is free to use.

Staying at the school is a great choice if you really want to immerse yourself in a traditional Tai Chi school environment. It provides both structured formal classes and the opportunity to learn more about Tai Chi and Chinese culture in a relaxed and informal way with the teachers and other students outside of class time.

The school is set in a beautiful Qing dynasty house which they have lovingly renovated for training purposes to allow the students to connect to the traditional school environment which has nurtured all the great Tai Chi masters.

The school is made by three buildings where you can find smaller training areas with a beautiful open courtyard out front, a traditional indoor training space, and two bigger outdoors covered training space surrounded by Qing dynasty houses of the village.

The school buildings also contain the rooms and a small courtyard area at the rear offers the shared facilities for the school including bathrooms, shower areas, and shared laundry facilities. The buildings also have an outdoor and indoor tea and DVD room, an indoor kitchen, dining area, and catering facilities where the chef cooks up an excellent selection of traditional and local Chinese dishes.

They have also just added a new mountain view training area, based behind the school on the side of the mountain commanding great views over the rest of the village and out on to the mountains beyond. It provides a great area to practice meditation and Qi Gong, or simply to relax, drink tea, and look out over the stunning scenery of the valley.

During this course, you will enjoy 20 hours of training, one 60-minute Chinese massage therapy along with plenty of free time to train by yourself. With the class training spread over five days, you will work through the basic foundation, learn a Tai Chi basic form (12 movements), and Yangshuo Traditional Tai Chi School will introduce you to meditation techniques and Qi Gong.

A full week at the school will enable you to truly share the culture of Qi Gong and Tai Chi. Tai Chi, like Chinese medicine, is all about balance. Good health is maintained by, amongst other things, the ingredients which you take in as food, and the way in which you expend energy.

The chef is a master of the work and adheres to these principles. Every day, teachers and students enjoy a well-balanced diet cooked in the traditional Chinese style and made from ingredients which are sourced fresh every day from the local farmers’ market. Each meal contains a large choice of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

Food is not just important for its ingredients, but also for the way you eat, and in China, it is hard to imagine eating without sharing. Everybody sits around the same table to share the ingredients of a meal eaten in common. Eating in China is a social event so that while you eat together, you share experiences from all walks of life, all ages, and every part of the world.
