Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a grappling / submission martial art that can be practiced for fitness, self-defense, or competition. It largely evolved from Japanese jiu-jitsu and was developed into a potentially more practical martial art by the Gracie family in Brazil. Thanks to the rise of the UFC and fighters like Royce Gracie, jiu-jitsu has now become one of the most popular martial arts in the world!
A typical session consists of group runs, skipping, stretching, shadow boxing, technique drills, sparring, and more. The program focuses on making sure that you are able to deliver techniques with maximal power and speed whilst also ensuring that you understand the traditions and history of the sport.
The many kilometers of the Andaman coastline are casually referred to, and have become known as, Khao Lak. However, the central hub is at the village of Ban Bang La On (close to Nang Thong Beach). The "original" Khao Lak beach is actually some five kilometers further south, after the headland where the Khao Lak National Park HQ offices are situated.
In addition to the central hub at Ban La On, there is the less commercial area of Bang Niang village, a couple of kilometers north. Today, Khao Lak is characterised by kilometers of lovely unspoilt beach coastline, (running north, past the headland, from the original Khao Lak beach), against a lush jungle backdrop, with highway route 4 threading its way effectively in parallel to the coast.
