Let your teenage children have the summer camp experience they will not forget! Camberley Judo Club invites Judo enthusiasts, level intermediate to advanced, to join their fun summer camp this year. The sessions will cover Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and you will learn many more things with new friends. This is the chance to take a mini break from the school stress and focus on sharpening your skills in martial arts.
This camp is suitable for boys and girls, who will be staying at the dojo during the camp program. They will sleep in the sleeping bags they bring from home in the dojo, and a representative will be staying overnight to supervise and ensure boys sleep one side of the dojo and girls the other.
Camberley Judo Club’s Residential Summer Camp for Advanced Juniors will be over 4 days (23rd - 26th August 2016) starting at 10am on Tuesday and finishing 12pm on the Friday.
This camp will include Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the usual ‘fun’ activities. There will be sessions on Olympic lifting techniques from last camp, if you attended it last year. These sessions will focus on the technique using broom sticks and no weight. This will benefit posture, co-ordination and prepare them for safe weight training in the future.
Judo consists of throwing and grappling techniques to suit all shapes and sizes. It is a real fighting sport where you actually come to grips with your opponent, specializing in close-in fighting - just what you need for effective self-defense. It emphasizes free-form practice rather than rigid, repetitive routines, and this freedom of expression provides interest, enjoyment and a challenge for any tactician.
The benefits of Judo are numerous. Apart from having a lot of fun and meeting people, the ‘judoka’ develops confidence, coordination and balance, falling skills, efficiency of movement, and self-defense skills. It is the perfect activity for improving one’s physical fitness, as training in judo improves aerobic capacity, flexibility and strength, and is an excellent activity to complement other sports. Indeed the principles of Judo can not only be applied to other sports, but as a way of approaching and living life.
Camberley is a town in Surrey, England. The town has a lot of sports happening, and is very active in sports. Your children will be staying at the dojo the whole time they are participating in the camp; there will be off site activities, but they won't be spending too much time outside.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and healthy snacks will be provided throughout the camp. If your child has dietary preference, please fill it out in the registration form so that the camp will make sure to prepare for the special diet.
