Martial arts

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art with a heavy emphasis on kicks. Taekwondo was developed during the 1940s and 1950s by various Korean martial artists. It is a blend of the indigenous Korean fighting styles of taekkyeon, gwonbeop, and subak, with influence from foreign martial arts as well. Taekwondo is characterized by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. In fact, World Taekwondo Federation sparring competitions award additional points for strikes that incorporate jumping and spinning kicks.

To facilitate fast, turning kicks, taekwondo generally adopts stances that are narrower and hence less stable than the broader, wide stances used by martial arts such as karate. The tradeoff of decreased stability is believed to be worth the proportionate increase in agility, particularly in Kukkiwon-style taekwondo. The emphasis on speed and agility is a defining characteristic of taekwondo.

Kickboxing is a group of stand-up combat sports based on kicking and punching, historically developed from karate, Muay Thai, and western boxing. Kickboxing is practiced for self-defense, general fitness, or as a contact sport.

Kickboxing is a broad term that can be used both in a wide and narrow sense and this can make understanding what exactly is it somewhat difficult. Kickboxing is a popular sport that is enjoyed around the world.

North America, Europe and Asia all enjoy the sport and because of this it has evolved and gone through several different cultural and historical changes respective of those places. That being said, many different individual rule sets have been created throughout its history.

These individual rule sets include: Full contact, Semi-contact, International, Muay Thai, Oriental, Sanshou, and Shoot-Boxing. The rule sets however do not change the fighting techniques used; they are universal. They include: punches, kicks, knee and elbow strikes, as well as defensive maneuvers.

"Boutique resort just 3 years old set in beautiful grounds right on the waters edge. Fantastic swimming pool which you only have to share with 4-5 other groups. Plenty of day beds and sun loungers to go around. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely spacious bungalow. Nice to be away from the crowds. You can walk along the sea wall and beach (better at low tide). Highly recommended hotel if you are looking to truly relax. You can watch the sun rise from your bed or the daybed on your upper balcony."

Many convenient pleasant things (such as fruit and coffee all day free of charge). Sure, I'll come again"

"After a long and winding trip to North Bali (from Ubud) we reached Bondalem Beach Club and immediately were taken with the view and close proximity to the beach, well literally on the doorstep. We were warmly greeted and shown to our two story villa which had stunning ocean views and a wonderful luxurious king size bed. Our stay was for six days and every day was sensational. The weather was the only disappointment, but only slightly, due to strong winds and choppy sea which meant snorkeling couldn't be done until the last day and we were unable to go out on the dolphin boat as the sea was too rough. "

"On our final day we were able to snorkel and wow!! About 30 m from shore and the coral wonderland is right there. I saw a multitude of tropical fish, coral and other amazing creatures. I was thankful that I got to do this, however a tad disappointed that I was unable to do this every day. We love to explore and eat at different locations, however the restaurant was so nice, the service impeccable and food delicious that we ate there every day for most meals - they have a very extensive menu. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were so friendly and professional. "

"The pool was possibly our family's favorite aspect, we spent a lot of time lazing around the pool and enjoying much swimming and frolicking. We ventured out most days to explore nearby towns, cities etc and went to Lovina which was lovely. The waterfall at Les is sensational, although quite rocky and you can't swim there, however you do get a sensational shower under Bali's tallest waterfall. We had our own car which was super handy and the driving was reasonably easy, says me who let my hubby do all the driving :) I've never been so disappointed to leave a holiday destination before (and I've traveled quite extensively) as Bondalem was just perfect for our relaxing family holiday. With only 5 villa's it's nearly like having the resort to yourself. I have no hesitation in recommending Bondalem. Oh and the best sunrise and sunset's you can imagine :):):) Thank you all the staff you made our stay very special."
