The geological formation of the sea coast area and islands in the Andaman Sea were created by the "Indonesian Tectonic Movement". By the mangrove forest of Hang Nak mountain you will find the Klom canal along the coastal rim, which serves as the basin of the large lake called "Nong Thale" (sea lake).

Driving directions from Bangkok

You can drive from Bangkok on the road no. 4th, through Phetchaburi province, Prachuap khirikhan, Chumphon, Ranong, Phang Nga, and Krabi which is about 946 km long.

The other way, you may drive on road no. 4 to Chumphon province, then change to the road no. 41 through Langsuan district, Chaiya district, Wiangsa district of Surat Thani province, then change to drive on the road no. 4035, through Ao Luek district and turn to use the road no. 4 again and drive to Krabi province which is about 814 km.

Arrival by airplane

Fly to Krabi Airport and from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang is about 45 minutes away by car.

Arrival by bus

Take a bus by buying a ticket at the Southern Bus Terminal. There are two bus companies; the first one is the "Transportation Co., Ltd." and "Lignite Tour Co., Ltd.

Arrival by ferry

There are three ways to travel from Phuket to the Krabi.

The ferry runs a direct from Phuket to Ao Nang and the Railay Peninsula in Krabi; this is the fastest way to reach Krabi from Phuket.

In high season, the ferry runs two daily from the Rasada pier in Phuket to the Ao Nang pier and after that Railay. The ferry from 1.30 p.m. does not go in low season (April - November).

The ferry from 8.30 a.m. goes the while year, but only on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

The ferry is the fastest way to get from Phuket to Krabi.

In low season, there are only 3 daily ferries on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday that connect Phuket directly with Krabi.

Arrival by shuttle

To get to Ao Nang from Krabi town you should look for a white songthaew (local shuttle bus) outside the 7-Eleven store on Maharat Road, the road with Vogue shopping centre on it.

The local shuttle bus runs throughout daylight hours in low season and up to 10 p.m. in high season. There will be a few people calling out "Ao Nang" from the road side who will usher you into the right bus.

Arrival by train

Take a train from Bangkok to the train station of Trang province or the Phun Phin's train station of Surat Thani province or the Thungsong's train station of Nakhon Si Thammarat. After that please take a bus to Krabi province.
